daridrasya manuṣyasya prājñasya madhurasya ca |
kāle 'py uktaṃ vākyaṃ na kaścit pratipadyate || 55 ||

caṇḍālaś ca daridraś ca dvāv etau sadṛśau matau |
caṇḍālasya na gṛhṇanti daridro na prayacchati || 56 ||

arthena parihīṇaṃ tu naram aspṛśyatāṃ gatam |
tyajanti bāndhavās sarve mṛtaṃ sattvam ivāsavaḥ || 57 ||

arthena hīnaḥ puruṣas tyajyate mitrabāndhavaiḥ |
tyaktalokakriyādāraḥ parāsur iva niṣprabhaḥ || 58 ||

śūnyam aputrasya gṛhaṃ ciraśūnyaṃ yasya nāsti sanmitram |
mūrkhasya diśaś śūnyās sarvaṃ śūnyaṃ daridrasya || 59 ||

[ vilocane cāvikale ca vīkṣate sphuṭā ca vāg asti na cāpabhāṣaṇam | aho nṛśaṃsair vibhavais tathā kṛtaṃ yatheśvaro yācanayantratāṃ gataḥ || 62 || ]

tan mādṛśānāṃ kiṃ nāma tad varaṃ syāt ! yasya syād īdṛśaḥ phalavipākaḥ ! yat satataṃ dehīti vakti | tat sarvathā dhanahīnasya mamādhunā neha śreyaḥ | uktaṃ ca |

[ vasen mānādhikaṃ sthānaṃ mānahīnaṃ na saṃvaset | mānahīnaṃ surais sārdhaṃ vimānam api varjayet || 63 || ]

evam uktvāpy ahaṃ punar apy evam acintayam | kimarthitāṃ kasyacit karomi | tad etat kaṣṭataram | yatkāraṇam !

vidyā na caiva na ca yatnakṛto viśeṣaḥ |
bhāgyāni karmaphalasañcayasañcitāni

kruddho 'pi kaḥ kasya karoti duḥkhaṃ
sukhaṃ ca kaḥ kasya karoti hṛṣṭaḥ |
svakarmagranthigrathitohi lokaḥ

buddhimanto mahotsāhāḥ prājñāś śūrāḥ kulodgatāḥ | pāṇipādair upetāś ca pareṣāṃ bhṛtyatāṃ gatāḥ || 117 || ]

kim atra paridevitena ! somilaka | pānabhojanād ṛte tava vittopārjanaṃ na kiñcid asti |

[ vahanti śivikām anye santy anye śivikāṃ gatāḥ |
akāraṇaṃ hi vaktṛtvaṃ vyutthānaṃ kevalaṃ jarā || 118 ||

na mantrabalavīryeṇa prajñayā pauruṣeṇa vā |
avaśyaṃ labhate jantur atra kā paridevanā || 119 ||

labdhavyāny eva labhate gantavyāny eva gacchati |
prāptavyāny eva cāpnoti duḥkhāni ca sukhāni ca || 120 ||

aprārthitāni duḥkhāni yathaivāyānti dehinām |
sukhāny api tathā manye daivam atrātiricyate || 121 ||

tat ko viśeṣayati kena kṛto viśiṣṭaḥ ko vā dhanais saha vijāyati ko daridraḥ | bhāgyāni ṣaṭpada iva sthiracañcalāni nityaṃ manuṣyakusumeṣu paribhramanti || 122 || ]

evam uccārayato rājaputreṇa bālabhāvād abhāvitacittenaitāvac chrutvā santrastena dvāsstho 'bhihitaḥ | kenedam abhihitam iti | santāpitahṛdayas samantād avalokayan mām apaśyat | ahaṃ ca lubdhakair mānuṣīṃ vācaṃ śikṣita āsam | dṛṣṭvā ca māṃ mānuṣeṇevānena mṛgenābhihitam ! vinaṣṭo 'smīti matvā paramāvegaṃ gataḥ | atha kathañcid viskhalitavāg asau bahir niścakrāma | paramasattvādhiṣṭhita iva mahad asvāsthyam āpede | tatas sarvābhiṣagbhūtatantrikān mahatyā arthamātrayā jvaraparītaḥ prārthitavān ! evaṃ cābravīt | yo mamaitāṃ rujam apanayati ! tasyāham akṛśāṃ pūjāṃ kariṣyāmīti | aham api tatrāsamīkṣitakāriṇā janena laguḍeṣṭakādibhir druhyamāṇaḥ kenāpi sādhunāvacchannaḥ | kim anena kṛtam iti | atha mamāyuśśeṣatayā tenāryeṇa sarvalakṣaṇavidā vijñāpito rājaputraḥ | avimarśapareṇa lokenemām avasthāṃ prāpitastvam | punar api tenāryeṇokto yathā | priyako nāmaiṣa mṛgo mānuṣīṃ vācaṃ jānāti | naiṣa mānuṣaḥ | bhadra ! anena prāvṛṭkālameghaśabdapratibodhitacittena svayūthyānusmaraṇautsukyād abhihitam | vātavṛsṭyavadhūtasyeti | kim atra citram | prāyeṇa pakṣiṇaḥ paśavaś ca bhayāhāramaithunamātravedino bhavanti ! ity adhigatam eva devena | ato 'yam amānuṣaḥ | tathā ca |

[ mantrāṇāṃ parato nāsti bījam uccaraṇaṃ tathā | asambaddhapralāpā na kāryaṃ sādhayituṃ kṣamāh || 154 || ]

[ śaṅkhaḥ kadalyāṃ kadalī ca bheryāṃ tasyāṃ ca bheryāṃ sumahad vimānam | tacchaṅkhabherīkadalīvimānam unmattaśaṅkāpratimaṃ babhūva || 155 || ]

tat kva śaṅkaḥ ! kva kadalī ! kva bherī ! kva vimānam iti | tadvidham idam asambaddhatayā tvayy āgatam | tac ca śrutvāpagatavikāro rājaputraḥ pūrvaprakṛtim āpannaḥ | vicārya tasyāryasya prajñāvibhavaṃ tato mahatīṃ pūjāṃ kṛtvā mantrisamīpavartī mantritve kṛtaḥ | māṃ cāpanīyābhyajya prabhūtenāmbhasā prakṣālitaśarīraṃ kṛtvārakṣipuruṣādhiṣṭhitaṃ tatraiva vane pratimuktavān | tat kiṃ bahunā ! anubhūtabandhano 'py ahaṃ niyativaśāt punar baddha iti |
