tasya vaibhava-pratipādana-parāṇām eṣāṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyā3dīnāṃ vivaraṇe pravṛttāḥ kecana nirviśeṣa-jñāna-mātram eva brahma, tac ca nitya-mukta-sva-prakāśa-sva-bhāvam api tat tvam asy ādi-sāmānādhikaraṇyā1vagata-jīvā1ikyaṃ, brahmai7vā7jñaṃ badhyate mucyate ca, nirviśeṣa-cin-mātrā1tireke3śvare3śitavyā3dy-ananta-vikalpa-rūpaṃ kṛtsnaṃ jagan-mithyā, kaścid baddhaḥ, kaścin mukta ity iyam avasthā na vidyate / itaḥ pūrvaṃ kecana muktā ity ayam artho mithyā / ekam eva śarīraṃ jīvavan nirjīvānī7tarāṇi, tac-charīraṃ kim iti na vyavasthitam, ācāryo jñānasyo7padeṣṭā mithyā śāstraṃ ca mithyā śāstra-pramātā ca mithyā śāstra-janyaṃ jñānaṃ ca mithyā --- etat sarvaṃ mithyā-bhūtenai7va śāstreṇā7vagamyata iti varṇayanti /

atha syāt --- upakrame 'py eka-vijñānena sarva-vijñāna-mukhena kāraṇasyai7va satyatāṃ pratijñāya tasya kāraṇa-bhūtasyai7va brahmaṇaḥ satyatāṃ vikāra-jātasyā7satyatāṃ mṛd-dṛṣṭāntena darśayitvā satya-bhūtasyai7va brahmaṇaḥ sad eva somye7dam agra āsīd ekam evā7dvitīyam iti sajātīya-vijātīya-nikhila-bheda-nirasanena nirviśeṣatai9va pratipāditā / etac chodhakāni prakaraṇā1ntara-gata-vākyāny api satyaṃ jñānam anantaṃ brahma, niṣkalaṃ niṣkriyaṃ nirguṇaṃ, vijñānam ānandam ity-ādīni sarva-viśeṣa-pratyanīkai1kā3kāratāṃ bodhayanti / na cai7kā3kāratā-bodhane padānāṃ paryāyatā / ekatve 'pi vastunaḥ sarva-viśeṣa-pratyanīkato2pasthāpanena sarva-padānām arthavattvād iti /

ayam arthaḥ --- śvetaketuṃ pratyāha stabdho 'sy uta tam ādeśam aprākṣya iti paripūrṇa iva lakṣyase tān ācāryān prati tam apy ādeśaṃ pṛṣṭavān asī7ti / ādiśyate 'nene7ty ādeśaḥ / ādeṣaḥ praśāsanam / etasya vā akṣarasya gārgi sūryā-candramasau vidhṛtau tiṣṭhata ity ādibhir aikyarthyāt / tathā ca mānavaṃ vacaḥ --- praśāsitāraṃ sarveṣām ity-ādi / atrā7py ekam eve7ti jagad-upādānatāṃ pratipādyā7dvitīya-padenā7dhiṣṭhātara-nivāraṇād asyai7vā7dhiṣṭhātṛtvam api pratipādyate /atas taṃ praśāsitāraṃ jagad-upādāna-bhūtam api pṛṣṭavān asi yena śrutena matena vijñātenā7śrutam amatam avijñānaṃ śrutaṃ mataṃ vijñātaṃ bhavatī7ty uktaṃ syāt / nikhila-jagad-udaya-vibhava-vilayā3di-kāraṇa-bhūtaṃ sarva-jñatva-satya-kāmatva-satya-saṃkalpatva-parimito1dāra-guṇa-gaṇa-sāgaraṃ kiṃ brahmā7pi tvayā śrutam iti hārdo bhāvaḥ / tasya nikhila-kāraṇatayā kāraṇam eva nānā-saṃsthāna-viśeṣa-saṃsthitaṃ kāryam ity ucyata iti kāraṇa-bhūta-sūkṣma-cid-acid-vastu-śarīraka-brahma-vijñānena kārra-bhūtam akhilaṃ jagad vijñātaṃ bhavatī7ti hṛdi nidhāya yenā7śrutaṃ śrutaṃ bhavaty amataṃ matam avijñātaṃ vijñātaṃ syād iti putraṃ prati pṛṣṭavān pitā / tad etat-sakalasya vastu-jātasyai7ka-kāraṇatvaṃ pitṛ-hṛdi nihitam ajānan putraḥ paraspara-vilakṣaṇeṣu vastuṣv anyasya jñānena tad-anya-vijñānasyā7ghaṭamānatāṃ buddhvā paricodayati --- kathaṃ nu bagavaḥ sa ādeśa iti /

paricoditaḥ punas tad eva hṛdi nihitaṃ jñānā3nandā1malatvai1ka-sva-rūpam aparicchedya-māhātmyaṃ satya-saṃkalpatva-miśrair anavadhikā1tiśayā1saṃkhyeya-kalyāṇa-guṇa-gaṇair juṣṭam avikāra-sva-rūpaṃ paraṃ brahmai7va nāma-rūpa-vibhāgā1narha-sūkṣma-cid-acid-vastu-śarīraṃ sva-līlāyai sva-saṃkalpenā7nanta-vicitra-sthira-trasa-sva-rūpa-jagat-saṃsthānaṃ svā1ṃśenā7vasthitam iti /

taj-jñānenā7sya nikhilasya jñātatāṃ bruvaṃl loka-dṛṣṭaṃ kārya-kāraṇayor ananyatvaṃ darśayituṃ dṛṣṭāntam āha --- yathā somyai7kena mṛt-piṇḍena sarvaṃ mṛn-mayaṃ vijñātaṃ syād vācā0rambhaṇaṃ vikāro nāma-dheyaṃ mṛttike9ty eva satyam iti / ekam eva mṛd-dravyaṃ svai1ka-deśena nānā-vyavahārā3spadatvāya ghaṭa-śarāvā3di-nānā-saṃsthānā1vasthā-rūpa-vikārā3pannaṃ nānā-nāma-dheyam api mṛttikā-saṃsthāna-viśeṣatvān mṛd-dravyam eve7ttham avasthitaṃ na vastv-antaram iti / yathā mṛt-piṇḍa-vijñānena tat-saṃsthāna-viśeṣa-rūpam ghaṭa-śarāvā3di sarvaṃ jñātam eva bhavatī7ty-arthaḥ /

tataḥ kṛtsnasya jagato brahmai1ka-kāraṇatām ajānan putraḥ pṛcchati --- bhagavāṃs tv eva me tad bravītv iti / tataḥ sarva-jñaṃ sarva-śakti brahmai7va sarva-kāraṇam ity upadiśan sa hovāca sad eva somye7dam agra āsīd ekam evā7dvitīyam iti / atre7dam iti jagan nirdiṣṭam / agra iti ca sṛṣṭeḥ pūrva-kālaḥ / tasmin kāle jagataḥ sad-ātmakatāṃ sad eve7ti pratipādya, tat-sṛṣṭi-kāle 'py aviśiṣṭam iti kṛtvai9kam eve7ti sad-āpannasya jagatas tadānīm avibhakta-nāma-rūpatāṃ pratipādya tat-pratipādanenai7va sato jagad-upādānatvaṃ pratipāditam iti sva-vyatirikta-nimitta-kāraṇam advitīya-padena pratiṣiddham /

tam ādeśam prākṣyo yenā7śrutaṃ śrutaṃ bhavatī7ty-ādāv eva praśāstitai9va jagad-upādānam iti hṛdi nihitam idānīm abhivyaktam / svayam eva jagad-upādānaṃ jagan-nimittaṃ ca sat tad aikṣata bahu syāṃ prajāyeye7ti / tad etac-chabda-vācyaṃ paraṃ brahma sarva-jñaṃ sarva-śakti satya-saṅkalpam avāpta-samasta-kāmam api līlā2rthaṃ vicitrā1nanta-cid-acin-miśra-jagad-rūpeṇā7ham eva bahu syāṃ tad-arthaṃ prajāyeye7ti svayam eva saṃkalpya svā1ṃśai1ka-deśād eva viyad-ādi-bhūtāni sṛṣṭvā punar api sai9va sac-chabdā1bhihitā parā devatai9vam aikṣata hantā7ham imās tisro devatā anena jīvenā8tmanā9nupraviśya nāma-rūpe vyākaravāṇī7ti / anena jīvenā8tmane9ti -- jīvasya brahmā3tmakatvaṃ pratipādya brahmā3tma-jīvā1nupraveśād eva kṛtsnasyā7cid-vastunaḥ padā1rthatvam evaṃ-bhūtasyai7va sarvasya vastuno nāma-bhāktvam iti ca darśayati / etad-uktaṃ bhavati --- jīvā3tmā tu brahmaṇaḥ śarīratayā prakāratvād brahmā3tmakaḥ / yasyā8tmā śarīram iti śruty-antarāt / evaṃ-bhūtasya jīvasya śarīratayā prakāra-bhūtāni deva-manuṣyā3di-saṃsthānāni vastūnī7ti brahmā3tmakāni tāni sarvāṇi / ato devo manuṣyo rākṣasaḥ paśur mṛgaḥ pakṣī vṛkṣo latā kāṣṭhaṃ śilā tṛṇaṃ ghaṭaḥ paṭa ity-ādayaḥ sarve prakṛti-pratyaya-yogenā7bhidhāyakatayā prasiddhāḥ śabdā loke tat-tad-vācyatayā pratīyamāna-tat-tat-saṃsthāna-vastu-mukhena tad-abhimāni-jīva-tad-antaryāmi-paramā3tma-paryanta-saṃghātasyai7va vācakā iti /

etad uktaṃ bhavati / aitad-ātmyam idaṃ sarvam iti cetanā1cetana-prapañcam idaṃ sarvam iti nirdiśya tasya prapañcasyai7ṣa ātme9ti pratipāditaḥ, prapañco1ddeśena brahmā3tmakatvaṃ patipāditam ity-arthaḥ / tad idaṃ brahmā3tmakatvaṃ kim ātma-śarīra-bhāveno7ta sva-rūpeṇe7ti vivecanīyam / sva-rūpeṇa ced brahmaṇaḥ satya-saṅkalpā3dyaḥ --- tad aikṣata bahu syaṃ prajāyeye7ty upakramā1vagatā bādhitā bhavanti / śarīrā3tma-bhāvena ca tad ātmakatvaṃ śruty-antarād viśeṣato 'vagatam antaḥpraviṣṭaḥ śāstā janānāṃ sarvā3tme9ti praśāsitṛtva-rūpā3tmatvena sarveṣāṃ janānām antaḥpraviṣṭo 'taḥ sarvā3tmā sarveṣāṃ janānām ātmā sarvaṃ cā7sya śarīram iti viśeṣato jñāyate brahmā3tmakatvam / ya ātmani tiṣṭhann ātmano 'ntaro yam ātmā na veda yasyā7tmā śarīraṃ ya ātmānam antaro yamayati sa ta ātmā1ntaryāmy-amṛta iti ca / atrā7py anena jīvenā8tmane9tī7dam eva jñāyata iti pūrvam evo7ktam / ataḥ sarvasya cid-acid-vastuno brahma-śarīratvāt sarva-prakāraṃ sarva-śabdair brahmai7vā7bhidhīyata iti tat tvam iti sāmānādhikaraṇyena jīva-śarīratayā jīva-prakāraṃ brahmai7vā7bhihitam /

aśruta-vedāntāḥ puruṣāḥ padā1rthāḥ sarve jīvā3tmanaś ca brahmā3tmakā iti na paśyati sarva-śabdānāṃ ca kevaleṣu tat-tat-padā1rtheṣu vācyai1ka-deśeṣu vācya-paryavasānaṃ manyante / idānīṃ vedānta-vākya-śravaṇena brahma-kāryatayā tad-antaryāmitayā ca sarvasya brahmā3tmakatvaṃ sarva-śabdānāṃ tat-tat-prakāra-saṃsthita-brahma-vācitvaṃ ca jānanti / nanv evaṃ gavā3di-śabdānāṃ tat-tat-padā1rtha-vācitayā vyutpattir bādhitā syāt / nai7vaṃ sarve śabdā acij-jīva-viśiṣṭasya paramā3tmano vācakā ity uktam / nāma-rūpe vyākaravāṇī7ty atra / tatra laukikāḥ puruṣāḥ śabdaṃ vyāharantaḥ śabda-vācye pradhānā1ṃśasya paramā3tmanaḥ pratyakṣā3dy-aparicchedyatvād vācyai1ka-deśa-bhūte vācya-samāptiṃ manyante / vedānta-śravaṇena ca vyutpattiḥ pūryate / evam eva vaidikāḥ sarve śabdāḥ paramā3tma-paryantān svā1rthān bodhayanti / vaidikā eva sarve śabdā vedā3dav uddhṛtyo7ddhṛtya pareṇai7va brahmaṇā sarva-padā1rthān pūrvavat sṛṣṭvā teṣu paramā3tma-paryanteṣu pūrvavan nāmatayā prayuktāḥ / tad āha manuḥ ---

nāma rūpaṃ bhūtānāṃ kṛtyānāṃ prapañcanam /

bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ khaṃ mano buddhir eva ca /
ahaṃkāra itī7yaṃ me bhinnā prakṛtir aṣṭadhā //
apare9yam itas tv anyāṃ prakṛtiṃ viddhi me parām /
jīva-bhūtāṃ mahā-bāho yaye9daṃ dhāryate jagat //
prakṛtiṃ svām avaṣṭabhya visṛjāmi punaḥ punaḥ /

antaḥ praviśyā7ntaryāmitayā sarveṣāṃ praśāsitāraṃ niyantāram --- aṇīyāṃsa ātmānaḥ kṛtsnasyā7cetanasya vyāpakatayā sūkṣma-bhūtās te teṣām api vyāpakatvāt tebhyo 'pi sūkṣmatara ity-arthaḥ --- rukmā1bhaḥ āditya-varṇaḥ --- svapna-kalpa-buddhi-prāpyaḥ, viśadatama-pratyakṣatā4pannā1nudhyānai1ka-labhya ity-arthaḥ /
enam eke vadanty agniṃ māruto 'nye prajāpatim /
indram eke pare pramāṇam apare brahma śāśvatam //

ihai7va tair jitaḥ sargo yeṣāṃ sāmye sthitaṃ manaḥ /
nirdoṣaṃ hi samaṃ brahma tasmād brahmaṇi te sthitāḥ //
iti / nirdoṣaṃ --- devā3di-prakṛti-viśeṣa-saṃsarga-rūpa-doṣa-rahitaṃ sva-rūpeṇā7vasthitaṃ sarvam ātma-vastu nirvāṇa-rūpa-jñānai1kā3kāratayā samam ity-arthaḥ /

na ca mat-sthāni bhūtāni paśya me yogam aiśvaram //
iti sarva-śakti-yogāt svā7iśvarya-vaicitryam uktam / tad āha ---
viṣṭabhyā7ham idaṃ kṛtsnam ekā1ṃśena sthito jagat /
iti --- ananta-vicitra-mahā4ścarya-rūpaṃ jagan mamā7yutā1ṃśenā8tmatayā praviśya sarvaṃ mat-saṃkalpena viṣṭabhyā7nena rūpeṇā7nanta-mahā-vibhūti-parimito1dāra-guṇa-sāgaro niratiśayā3ścarya-bhūtaḥ sthito 'ham ity-arthaḥ / tad idam āha ---
ekatve sati nānātvaṃ nānātve sati cai7katā /
acintyaṃ brahmaṇo rūpaṃ kutas tad-veditum arhati //
iti / praśāsitṛtvenai7ka eva san-vicitra-cid-acid-vastuṣv antarā3tmatayā praviśya tat-tad-rūpeṇa vicitra-prakāro vicitra-karma kārayan nānā-rūpāṃ bhajate / evaṃ sv-alpā1ṃśena tu sarvā3ścaryaṃ nānā-rūpaṃ jagat-tad-antarā3tmatayā praviśya viṣṭabhya nānātvenā7vasthito 'pi sann anavadhikā1tiśayā1saṃkhyeya-kalyāṇa-guṇa-gaṇaḥ sarve3śvaraḥ para-brahma-bhūtaḥ puruṣo1ttamo nārāyaṇo niratiśayā3ścarya-bhūto nīla-toya-da-saṃkāśaḥ puṇḍarīka-dalā1malā3yate3kṣaṇaḥ sahasrā1ṃśu-sahasra-kiraṇaḥ parame vyomni yo veda nihitaṃ guhāyāṃ parame vyomaṃs tad-akṣare parame vyomann ity-ādi-śruti-siddha eka evā7tiṣṭhate /

brahma-vyatiriktasya kasyacid api vastuna eka-sva-bhāvasyai7ka-kārya-śakti-yuktasyai7ka-rūpasya rūpā1ntara-yogaḥ sva-bhāvā1ntara-yogaḥ śakty-antara-yogaś ca na ghaṭate / tasyai7tasya para-brahmaṇaḥ sarva-vastu-vijātīyatayā sarva-sva-bhāvatvaṃ sarva-śakti-yogaś ce7ty ekasyai7va vicitrā1nanta-rūpatā ca punar apy anantā1parimitā3ścarya-yogenai7ka-rūpatā ca na viruddhe9ti vastu-mātra-sāmyād virodha-cintā na yukte9ty-arthaḥ / yatho9ktaṃ ---
śaktayaḥ sarva-bhāvānām acintya-jñāna-gocarāḥ /

apauruṣeyeṣu veda-vākyeṣu paraspara-viruddheṣu katham iti cet / tātparya-niścayād avirodhaḥ pūrvam evo7ktaḥ / yad api ced evaṃ viruddhavad dṛśyate --- prāṇaṃ manasi saha kāraṇair nādā1nte paramā3tmani saṃpratiṣṭhāya dhyāyītavyaṃ pradhyāyītavyaṃ sarvam idaṃ, brahma-viṣṇu-rudrās te sarve saṃprasūyante, na kāraṇaṃ, kāraṇaṃ tu dhyāyaḥ, sarvā1iśvarya-saṃpannaḥ sarve3śvaraḥ śaṃbhur ākāśa-madhye dhyeyaḥ --- yasmāt paraṃ nā7param asti kiṃcid yasmān nā8ṇīyo na jyāyo 'sti kaścit --- vṛkṣa iva stabdho divi tiṣṭhaty ekas tene7daṃ pūrṇaṃ puruṣeṇa sarvam --- tato yad-uttarataraṃ tad-arūpam anāmayaṃ ya etad-vidur amṛtās te bhavanti, athe7tare duḥkham evā8piyanti ---

iti tri-mūrto-sāmyaṃ pratīyate / nai7tad evam / eka eva janā1rdana iti jana ardanasyai7va brahma-śivā3di-kṛtsna-prapañca-tādātmyaṃ vidhīyate / jagac ca sa iti pūrvo1ktam eva vivṛṇoti --- sraṣṭā sṛjati cā8tmānaṃ viṣṇuḥ pālyaṃ ca pāti ca /
upasaṃhriyate cā7nte saṃhartā ca svatyaṃ-prabhuḥ //
iti ca sraṣṭṛtvenā7vasthitaṃ brahmaṇaṃ sṛjyaṃ ca saṃhartāraṃ saṃhāryaṃ ca yugapan nirdiśya sarvasya viṣṇu-tādātmyo1padeśāt sṛjya-saṃhārya-bhūtād vastunaḥ sraṣṭṛ-saṃhartror janā1rdana-vibhūtitvena viśeṣo dṛśyate / janā1rdana-viṣṇu-śabdayoḥ paryāyatvena brahma-viṣṇu-śivā3tmikām iti vibhūtim / ata eva sve1cchayā līlā2rthaṃ vibhūty-antarbhāva ucyate / yathe9dam anantaram evo7cyate ---
pṛthivy-āpas tathā tejo vāyur ākāśa eva ca /
sarve1ndriyā1ntaḥkaraṇaṃ puruṣā3khyaṃ hi yaj jagat //
sa eva sarva-bhūtā3tmā viśva-rūpo yato 'vyayaḥ /
sargā3dikaṃ tato 'syai7va bhūta-stham upakārakam //
sa eva sṛjyaḥ sa ca sarva-kartā sa eva pātyatti ca pālyate ca /
brahmā3dy-avasthābhir aśeṣa-mūrtir viṣṇur variṣṭho vara-do vareṇyaḥ // iti /

atra sāmānādhikaraṇya-nirdiṣṭaṃ heya-miśra-prapañca-tādātmyaṃ niravadyasya nirvikārasya samasta-kalyāṇa-guṇā3tmakasya brahmaṇaḥ katham upapadyata ity āśaṅkhya sa eva sarva-bhūtā3tmā viśva-rūpo yato 'vyaya iti svayam evo7papādayati / sa eva sarve3śvaraḥ para-brahma-bhūto viṣṇur eva sarvaṃ jagad iti pratijñāya sarva-bhūtā3tmā viśva-rūpo yato 'vyaya iti hetur uktaḥ / sarva-bhūtānām ayam ātmā viśva-śarīro yato 'vyaya ity-arthaḥ / vakṣyati ca --- sat-sarvaṃ vai hares tanur iti /
etad uktaṃ bhavati / asyā7vyayasyā7pi parasya brahmaṇo viṣṇor viśva-śarīratayā tādātmya-viruddham ity ātma-śarīrayoś ca sva-bhāvā vyavasthitā eva / evaṃ-bhūtasya sarve3śvarasya viṣṇoḥ prapañcā1ntarbhūta-niyāmya-koṭi-niviṣṭa-brahmā3di-deva-tiryaṅ-manuṣyeṣu tat tat samāśrayaṇīyatvāya sve1cchā2vatāraḥ pūrvo1ktaḥ / tad etad brahmā3dīnāṃ bhāvanā-trayā1nvayena karma-vaśyatvaṃ bhagavataḥ para-brahma-bhūtasya vāsu-devasya nikhila-jagad-upakārāya sve1cchayā svenai7va rūpeṇa devā3diṣv avatāra iti ca ṣaṣṭe 'ṃśe śubhā3śraya-prakaraṇe suvyaktam uktam / asya devā3di-rūpeṇā1vatāreṣv api na prākṛto deha iti mahābhārate --- na bhūta-saṃgha-saṃsthāno deho 'sya paramā3tmanaḥ / iti pratipāditaḥ / śrutibhiś ca --- ajāyamāno bahudhā vijāyate --- tasya dhīrāḥ parijānanti yonim iti / karma-vaśyānāṃ brahmā3dīnām anicchatām api tat-tat-karmā1nuguṇa-prakṛti-pariṇāma-rūpa-bhūta-saṃgha-saṃsthāna-viśeṣa-devā3di-śarīra-praveśa-rūpaṃ janmā7varjanīyam / ayaṃ tu sarve3śvaraḥ satya-saṃkalpo bhagavān evaṃ-bhūta-śubhe1tara-janmā7kurvann api sve1cchayā svenai7va niratiśaya-kalyāṇa-rūpeṇa devā3diṣu jagad-upakārāya bahudhā jāyate, tasyai7tasya śubhe1tara-janmā7kurvato 'pi sva-kalyāṇa-guṇā3nantyena bahudhā yoniṃ bahu-vidha-janma dhīrā-dhīramatām agresarā jānantī7ty-arthaḥ /

tad-etan-nikhila-jagan-nimitto1pādāna-bhūtāj janmā3dy asya yataḥ --- prakṛtiś ca pratijñā-dṛṣṭāntā1nuparodhā3dityā3di-sūtraiḥ pratipāditāt parasmād brahmaṇaḥ parama-puruṣād anyasya kasyacit parataratvaṃ para-mataḥ setūn māna-saṃbandha-bheda-vyapadeśebhya ity-āśaṅkya sāmānyāt tu --- buddhy-arthaḥ pādavat --- sthāna-viśeṣāt prakāśā3divat --- upapatteś ca --- tathā9nya-pratiṣedhāt --- anena sarva-gatatva-māyām ādi-śabdā3dibhya iti sūtra-kāraḥ svayam eva nirākaroti /

kāryā1bhidhāyitvenai7va prāmāṇyaṃ varṇanīyam / vyavahārād anyatra śabdasya bodhakatva-śakty-avadhāraṇā1saṃbhavād vyavahārasya ca kārya-buddhi-mūlatvāt kārya-rūpa eva śabdā1rthaḥ / na pariniṣpanne vastuni śabdaḥ pramāṇam iti / atro7cyate / pravartaka-vākya-vyavahāra eva śabdānām artha-bodhakatva-śakty-avadhāraṇaṃ kartavyam iti kim iyaṃ rājā3jñā / siddha-vastuṣu śabdasya bodhakatva-śakti-grahaṇam atyanta-sukaram / tathā hi --- kenacid dhasta-ceṣṭā4dinā9pavarake daṇḍaḥ sthita iti deva-dattāya jñāpaye7ti preṣitaḥ kaścit taj-jñāpane pravṛtto 'pavarake daṇḍaḥ sthita iti śabdaṃ prayuṅkte / mūkavad dhasta-ceṣṭām imāṃ jānan pārśva-stho 'nyaḥ prāg-vyutpanno 'pi tasyā1rthasya bodhanāyā1pavarake daṇḍaḥ sthita ity-asya śabdasya prayoga-darśanād asyā7rthasyā7yaṃ śabdo bodhaka iti jānātī7ti kim atra duṣkaram / tathā bālas tāto 'yam iyaṃ mātā9yaṃ mātulo 'yaṃ manuṣyo 'yaṃ mṛgaś candro 'yam ayaṃ ca sarpa iti mātā-pitṛ-prabhṛtibhiḥ śabdaiḥ śanaiḥ śanair aṅgulyā nirdeśane tatra tatra bahuśaḥ śikṣitas tair eva śabdais teṣv artheṣu svā3tmanaś ca buddhy-utpattiṃ dṛṣṭvā teṣv artheṣu teṣāṃ śabdānām aṅgulyā nirdeśa-pūrvakaḥ prayogaḥ sambandhā1ntarā1bhāvāt saṃketayitṛ-puruṣā3jñānāc ca bodhakatva-nibandhana iti krameṇa niścitya punar apy asya śabdasyā7yam artha iti pūrva-vṛddhaiḥ śikṣitaḥ sarva-śabdānām artham avagamya svayam api sarvaṃ vākya-jātaṃ prayuṅkte / evam eva sarva-padānāṃ svā1rthā1bhidhāyitvaṃ saṃghāta-viśeṣaṇāṃ ca yathā2vasthita-saṃsarga-viśeṣa-vācitvaṃ ca jānātī7ti kāryā1rthai1va vyuttipattir ity-ādi-nirbandho nirbandhanaḥ / ataḥ pariṣpannaḥ vastuni śabdasya-bodhakatva-śakty-avadhāraṇāt sarvāṇi vedānta-vākyāni sakala-jagat-kāraṇaṃ sarva-kalyāṇa-guṇā3kara-mukta-lakṣaṇaṃ brahma bodhayanty eva /

api ca kāryā1rtha eva vyutpattir astu / vedānda-vākyāny apy upāsana-viṣaya-kāryā1dhikṛta-viśeṣaṇa-bhūta-phalatvena duḥkhā1saṃbhinna-deśa-viśeṣa-rūpa-svargā3divad rātri-satra-pratiṣṭhānā3divad apagoraṇa-śata-yātanā-sādhya-sādhana-bhāvavac ca karyo1payogitayai9va sarvaṃ bodhayanti / tathā+hi --- brahma-vid āpnoti param ity-atra brahmo1pāsana-viṣaya-kāryā1dhikṛta-viśeṣaṇa-bhūta-phalatvena brahma-prāptiḥ śrūyate --- para-prāpti-kāmo brahma vidyād ity-atra prāpyatayā pratīyamānaṃ brahma-sva-rūpaṃ tad-viśeṣaṇaṃ ca sarvaṃ kāryo1payogitayai9va siddhaṃ bhavati / tad-antargatam eva jagat-sraṣṭṛtvaṃ saṃhartṛtvam ādhāratvam antarātmatvam ity-ādy uktam anuktaṃ ca sarvam iti na kiṃcid anupapannam /

evaṃ ca sati mantrā1rtha-vāda-gatā hy aviruddhā apūrvāś cā7rthāḥ sarve vidhi-śeṣatayai9va siddhā bhavanti / yatho9ktaṃ dramiḍa-bhāṣye --- ṛṇaṃ hi vai jāyata iti śruter ity upakramya yady apy avadāna-stuti-paraṃ vākyaṃ tathā9pi nā1satā stutir upapadyata iti / etad uktaṃ bhavati --- sarvo hy artha-vāda-bhāgo devatā4rādhana-bhūta-yāgā3deḥ sāṅgasyā8rādhya-devatāyāś cā7dṛṣṭa-rūpān guṇān sahasraśo vadan sahasraśaḥ karmaṇi prāśastya-buddhim utpādayati / teṣām asad-bhāve prāśastya-buddhir eva na syād iti karmaṇi prāśastya-buddhy-arthaṃ guṇa-sad-bhāvam eva bodhayatī7ti / anayai9va diśā sarve mantrā1rtha-vādā1vagatā arthāḥ siddhāḥ /

api ca kārya-vākyā1rtha-vādibhiḥ kim idaṃ kāryatvaṃ nāme7ti vaktavyam / kṛti-bhāva-bhāvitā kṛty-uddeśyatā ce7ti cet / kim idaṃ kṛty-uddeśyatvam / yad adhikṛtya kṛtir vartate tat kṛty-uddeśyatvam iti cet / puruṣa-vyāpāra-rūpāyāḥ kṛteḥ ko 'yam adhikāro nāma / yat-prāptī1cchayā kṛtim utpādayati puruṣaḥ tat kṛty-uddeśyatvam iti ced dhanta tarhī7ṣṭatvam eva kṛty-uddeśyatvam / athai7vaṃ manuṣe iṣṭasyai7va rūpa-dvayam asti / icchā-viṣayatayā sthitiḥ puruṣa-prerakatvaṃ ca / tatra prerakatvā3kāraḥ kṛty-uddeśyatvam iti so 'yaṃ sva-pakṣā1bhiniveśa-kārito vṛthā3śramaḥ / tathā hī7cchā-viṣayatayā pratītasya sva-prayatno1tpattim antareṇā7siddhir eva prerakatvam / tata eva pravṛtteḥ / icchāyāṃ jātāyām iṣṭasya sva-prayatno1tpattim antareṇā7siddhiḥ pratīyate cet tataś cikīrṣā jāyate tataḥ pravartate puruṣa iti tattva-vidāṃ prakriyā / tasmād iṣṭasya kṛty-adhīnā3tma-lābhatvā1tireki kṛty-uddeśyatvaṃ nāma kim pi na dṛṣyate / atho7cyate --- iṣṭatā-hetuś ca puruṣā1nukūlatā / tat-puruṣā1nukūlatvaṃ kṛty-uddeśyatvam iti cet / nai7vam / puruṣā1nukūlaṃ sukham ity anarthā1ntaram / tathā puruṣā1nukūlaṃ duḥkha-paryāyam / ataḥ sukha-vyatiriktasya kasyā7pi puruṣā1nukūlatvaṃ na saṃbhavati /
nanu ca duḥkha-nivṛtter api sukha-vyatiriktāyāḥ puruṣā1nukūlatā dṛṣṭā / nai7tat / ātmā1nukūlaṃ sukham ātma-pratikūlaṃ duḥkham iti hi sukha-duḥkhayor vivekaḥ / tatrā3tmā1nukūlaṃ sukham iṣṭaṃ bhavati / tat-pratikūlaṃ duḥkhaṃ cā7niṣṭam / ato duḥkha-saṃyogasyā7sahyatayā tan-nivṛttir apī7ṣṭā bhavati / tata eve7ṣṭatā-sāmyād anukūlatā-bhramaḥ / tathā hi --- prakṛti-saṃsṛṣṭasya saṃsāriṇaḥ puruṣasyā7nukūla-saṃyogaḥ pratikūla-saṃyogaḥ sva-rūpeṇā7vasthitir iti ca tisro 'vasthāḥ / tatra pratikūla-saṃbandha-nivṛttiś cā7nukūla-saṃbandha-nivṛttiś ca sva-rūpeṇā7vasthitir eva / tasmāt pratikūla-saṃyoge vartamāne tan-nivṛtti-rūpā sva-rūpeṇā7vasthitir apī7ṣṭā bhavati / tatre7ṣṭatā-sāmyād anukūlatā-bhramaḥ /

ataḥ sukha-rūpatvād anukūlatāyāḥ niyogasyā7nukūlatāṃ vadantaṃ prāmāṇikāḥ parihasanti / iṣṭasyā7rtha-viśeṣasya nivartakatayai9va hi niyogasya niyogatvaṃ sthiratvam apūrvatvaṃ ca pratīyate / svarga-kāmo yajete7ty atra kāryasya kriyā2tiriktā svarga-kāma-pada-samabhivyāhāreṇa svarga-sādhanatva-niścayād eva bhavanti / na ca vācyaṃ yajete7ty atra prathamaṃ niyogaḥ sva-pradhānatayai9va pratīyate svarga-kāma-pada-samabhivyāhārāt sva-siddhaye svarga-siddhy-anukūlatā ca niyogasye7ti / yajete7ti hi dhātv-arthasya puruṣa-prayatna-sādhyatā pratīyate / svarga-kāma-pada-samabhivyāhārād eva dhātv-arthā1tirekiṇo niyogatvaṃ sthiratvam apūrvatvaṃ ce7ty-ādi / tac ca svarga-sādhanatva-pratīti-nibandhanam / samabhivyāhṛta-svarga-kāma-padā1rthā1nvaya-yogyaṃ svarga-sādhanam eva kāryaṃ liṅ-ādayo 'bhidadhatī7ti loka-vyutpattir api tiraskṛtā / etad uktaṃ bhavati --- samabhivyahṛta-padā1ntara-vācyā1rthā1nvaya-yogyam eve7tara-pada-pratipādyam ity-anvitā1bhidhāyi-pada-saṃghāta-rūpa-vākya-śravaṇa-saman antaram eva pratīyate / tac ca svarga-sādhana-rūpam / ataḥ kriyāvad ananyā1rthatā9pi virodhād eva parityakte9ti / ata eva gaṅgāyāṃ ghoṣa ity-ādau ghoṣa-prativāsa-yogyā1rtho1pasthāpana-paratvaṃ gaṅgā-padasyā8śrīyate / prathamaṃ gaṅgā-padena gaṅgā2rthaḥ smṛta iti gaṅgā-padā1rthasya peyatvaṃ na vākyā1rthā1nvayībhavati / evam atra api yajete7ty-etāvan-mātra-śravaṇe kāryam ananyā1rthaṃ smṛtam iti vākyā1rthā1nvaya-samaye kāryasyā7nanyā1rthatā nā7vatiṣṭhate / kāryā1bhidhāyi-pada-śravaṇa-velāyāṃ prathamaṃ kāryam ananyā1rthaṃ pratītam ity etad api na saṃgacchate / vyutpatti-kāle gavā3nayanā3di-kriyāyā duḥkha-rūpāyā iṣṭa-viśeṣa-sādhanatayai9va kāryatā-pratīteḥ / ato niyogasya puruṣā1nukūlatvaṃ sarva-loka-viruddhaṃ niyogasya sukha-rūpa-puruṣā1nukūlatāṃ vadataḥ svā1nubhava-virodhaś ca / karīryā vṛṣṭi-kāmo yajeyte7ty-ādiṣu siddhe 'pi niyoge vṛṣṭy-ādi-siddhi-nimittasya vṛṣṭi-vyatirekeṇa niyogasyā7nukūlatā nā7nubhūyate / yady apy asmiñ janmani vṛṣṭy-ādi-siddher aniyamas tathā9py aniyamād eva niyoga-siddhir avaśyā3śrayaṇīyā / tasminn anukūlatā-paryāya-sukhā1nubhūtir na dṛśyate / evam ukta-rītyā kṛti-sādhye1ṣṭatvā1tireki kṛty-uddeśyatvaṃ na dṛśyate /

evaṃ garbha-dāsā3dīnām api puruṣa-viśeṣā1tiśayā3dhāno1pādeyatvam eva sva-rūpam / evam īśvara-gatā1tiśayā3dhāne1cchayo9pādeyatvam eva cetanā1cetanā3tmakasya nityasyā7nityasya ca sarvasya vastunaḥ sva-rūpam iti sarvam īśvara-śeṣatvam eva sarvasya ce8śvaraḥ śeṣī9ti sarvasya vaśī sarvasye8śānaḥ patiṃ viśvasye7ty-ādy-uktam / kṛti-sādhyaṃ pradhānaṃ yat tat-kāryam abhidhīyata ity ayam arthaḥ śraddadhāneṣv eva śobhate /

api ca svarga-kāmo yajete7ty-ādiṣu la-kāra-vācya-kartṛ-viśeṣa-samarpaṇa-parāṇāṃ svarga-kāmā3di-padānāṃ niyojya-viśeṣa-samarpaṇa-paratvaṃ śabdā1nuśāsana-viruddhaṃ kenā7vagamyate / sādhya-svarga-viśiṣṭasya svarga-sādhane kartṛtvā1nvayo na ghaṭata iti cet / niyojyatvā1nvayo 'pi na ghaṭata iti hi svarga-sādhanatva-niścayaḥ / sa tu śāstra-siddhe kartṛtvā1nvaye svarga-sādhanatva-niścayaḥ kriyate / yathā bhoktu-kāmo devadatta-gṛhaṃ gacched ity-ukte bhojana-kāmasya devadatta-gṛha-gamane kartṛtva-śravaṇād eva prāg-ajñātam api bhojana-sādhanatvaṃ devadatta-gṛha-gamanasyā7vagamyate / evam atrā7pi bhavati / na kriyā2ntaraṃ prati kartṛtayā śrutasya kriyā2ntare kartṛtva-kalpanaṃ yuktam --- yajete7ti hi yāga-kartṛtayā śrutasya biddhau kartṛtva-kalpanaṃ kriyate / buddheḥ kartṛtva-kalpanam eva hi niyojyatvam / yatho2ktaṃ ---
niyojya sarva-kāryaṃ yaḥ svakīyatvena budhyate /
iti / yaṣṭṛtvā1nuguṇaṃ tad-bodhṛtvam iti cet / devadattaḥ paced iti pāke kartṛtayā śrutasya devadattasya pākā1rtha-gamanaṃ pākā1nuguṇam iti gamane kartṛtva-kalpanaṃ na yujyate /

kiṃ ca liṅ-ādi-śabda-vācyaṃ sthāyi-rūpaṃ kim ity apūrvam āśrīyate / svarga-kāma-pada-samabhivyāhārā1nupapatter iti cet / kā9trā7nupapattiḥ / siṣādhayiṣita-svargo hi svarga-kāmaḥ / tasya svarga-kāmasya kālā1ntara-bhāvi-svarga-siddhau kṣaṇa-bhaṅginī yāgā3di-kriyā na samarthe9ti cet / anāghrāta-veda-siddhāntānām iyam anupapattiḥ / sarvaiḥ karmabhir ārādhitaḥ parame3śvaro bhagavān nārāyaṇas tat-tad-iṣṭaṃ phalaṃ dadātī7ti veda-vido vadanti / yathā0hur veda-vid-agresarā dramiḍā3cāryāḥ --- phala-saṃbibhatsayā hi karmabhir ātmānaṃ piprīṣanti sa prīto 'laṃ phalāye7ti śāstra-maryādā iti / phala-saṃbandhe1cchayā karmabhir yāga-dāna-homā3dibhir indriyā3di-devatā-mukhena tat-tad-antaryāmi-rūpeṇā7vasthitam indrā3di-śabda-vācyaṃ paramā3tmānaṃ bhagavantaṃ vāsudevam ārirādhayiṣanti, sa hi karmabhir ārādhitas teṣām iṣṭāni phalāni prayacchatī7ty-arthaḥ / tathā ca śrutiḥ --- iṣṭā1pūrtaṃ bahudhā jātaṃ jāyamānaṃ viśvaṃ bibharti bhuvanasya nābhir iti / iṣṭā1pūrtam iti sakala-śruti-smṛti-coditaṃ karmo7cyate / tad-viśvaṃ bibharti --- indrā1gni-varuṇā3di-sarva-devatā-saṃbandhitayā pratīyamānaṃ tat-tad-antarā3tmatayā9vasthitaḥ parama-puruṣaḥ svayam eva bibharti svayam eva svī-karoti / bhuvanasya nābhiḥ --- brahma-kṣatrā3di-sarva-varṇa-pūrṇasya bhuvanasya dhārakaḥ --- tais taiḥ karmabhir ārādhitas tat-tad-iṣṭa-phala-pradānena bhuvanānāṃ dhāraka iti nābhir ity-uktaḥ / agni-vāyu-prabhṛti-devatā2ntarā3tmatayā tat-tac-chabdā1bhidheyo 'yam eve7ty āha --- tad evā7gnis tad-vāyus tat-sūryas tad u candra-mā iti / yatho2ktaṃ bhagavatā ---
yo yo yām yāṃ tanuṃ bhaktaḥ śraddhayā9rcitum icchati /
tasya tasyā7calāṃ śraddhāṃ tām eva vidadhāmy aham //

labhate ca tataḥ kāmān mayai9va vihitān iha tān // iti /
yāṃ yāṃ tanum itī7ndrā3di-devatā-viśeṣās tat-tad-antaryāmitayā9vasthitasya bhagavatas tanavaḥ śarīrāṇī7ty-arthaḥ /

ity-ādi / prabhur eva ce7ti sarva-phalānāṃ pradātā ce7ty-arthaḥ / yathā ca

te taranty akhilām etāṃ mayām ātma-vimuktaye //

iti / tasmād agny-ādi-devatā2ntarā3tma-bhūta-parama-puruṣā3rādhana-rūpa-bhūtāni sarvāṇi karmāṇi, sa eva cā7bhilaṣita-phala-pradāte9ti kim atrā7pūrveṇa vyutpatti-patha-dūra-vartinā vācyatayā9bhyupagatena kalpitena vā prayojanam / evaṃ ca sati liṅ-ādeḥ ko 'yam arthaḥ parigṛhīto bhavati / yaja deva-pūjāyām iti devatā4rādhana-bhūta-yāgā3deḥ prakṛty-arthasya kartṛ-vyāpāra-sādhyatāṃ vyutpatti-siddhāṃ liṅ-ādayo 'bhidadhatī7ti na kiṃcid anupapannam / kartṛ-vācināṃ pratyayānāṃ prakṛty-arthasya kartṛ-vyāpāra-saṃbandha-prakāro hi vācyaḥ / bhūta-vartamānā3dikam anye vadanti / liṅ-ādayas tu kartṛ-vyāpāra-sādhyatāṃ vadanti /

api ca kāminaḥ kartavyatā karma vidhāya karmaṇo devatā4rādhana-rūpatāṃ tad-dvārā phala-saṃbhavaṃ ca tat-tat-karma-vidhi-vākyāny eva vadanti / vāyavyaṃ śvetam ālabhata bhūti-kāmo vāyur vai kṣepiṣṭhā devatā vāyum eva svena bhāga-dheyeno7padhāvati sa evai7naṃ bhūtiṃ gamayatī7ty-ādīni / nā7tra phala-siddhy-anupapattiḥ kā9pi dṛśyata iti phala-sādhanatvā1vagatir aupādānikī9ty api na saṃgacchati / vidhy-apekṣitaṃ yāgā3deḥ phala-sādhanatva-prakāraṃ vākya-śeṣa eva bodhayatī7ty-arthaḥ / tasmād brāhmaṇāya nā7pagurete7ty atrā7pagoraṇa-niṣedha-vidhi-para-vākya-śeṣe śrūyamāṇaṃ niṣedhyasyā7pagoraṇasya śata-yātanā-sādhanatvaṃ niṣedha-vidhy-upayogī9ti hi svīkriyate / atra punaḥ kāminaḥ kartavyatayā vihitasya yāgā3deḥ kāmya-svargā3di-sādhanatva-prakāraṃ vākya-śeṣā1vagatam anādṛtya kim ity upādānena yāgā3deḥ phala-sādhanatvaṃ parikalpyate / hiraṇya-nidhim apavarake nidhāya yācate kodravā3di-lubdhaḥ kṛpaṇaṃ janam iti śrūyate tad etad yuṣmāsu dṛśyate / śata-yātanā-sādhanatvam api nā7dṛṣṭa-dvāreṇa / coditāny anutiṣṭho vihitaṃ karmā1kurvato ninditāni ca kurvataḥ sarvāṇi sukhāni duḥkhāni ca parama-puruṣā1nugraha-nigrahābhyām eva bhavanti / eṣa hy evā8nandayati --- atho so 'bhayaṃ gato bhavati --- atha tasya bhayaṃ bhavati --- bhīṣā9smād vā9taḥ pavate bhīṣo9deti sūryo bhīṣā2smād agniś candraś ca mṛtyur dhāvati pañcamaḥ --- iti / etasya vā akṣarasya praśāsane gārgi sūryā-candramasau vidhṛtau tiṣṭhataḥ --- etasya vā akṣarasya praśāsane gārgi dadato manuṣyāḥ praśaṃsanti yajamānaṃ devā darvīṃ pitaro 'nvāyattā ity-ādy-aneka-vidhāḥ śrutayaḥ santi / yatho9ktaṃ dramiḍa-bhāṣye --- tasyā8jñayā dhāvati vāyur nadyaḥ sravanti tena ca kṛta-sīmāno jalā3śayāḥ samadā iva meṣavir-sapitaṃ kurvantī7ti / tat-saṃkalpa-nibandhanā hī7me loke na cyavante na sphuṭante / sva-śāsanā2nuvartināṃ jñātvā kāruṇyāt sa bhagavān vardhayeta vidvān karma-dakṣa iti ca /

parama-puruṣa-yāthātmya-jñāna-pūrvaka-tad-upāsanā3di-vihita-karmā1nuṣṭhāyinas tat-prasādāt tat-prāpti-paryantāni sukhāny abhayaṃ ca yathā2dhikāraṃ bhavanti / taj-jñāna-pūrvakaṃ tad-upāsanā3di-vihitaṃ karmā1kurvato ninditāni ca kurvatas tan-nigrahād eva tad-aprāpti-pūrvakā1parimita-duḥkhāni bhayaṃ ca bhavanti / yatho2ktaṃ bhagavatā ---
niyataṃ kuru karma tvaṃ karma jyāyo hy akarmaṇaḥ /
ity-ādinā kṛtsnaṃ karma jñāna-pūrvakam anuṣṭheyaṃ vidhāya ---
mayi sarvāṇi karmāṇi saṃnyasya
iti sarvasya karmaṇaḥ svā3rādhanatām ātmanāṃ sva-niyāmyatāṃ ca pratipādya ---
ye me matam idaṃ nityam anutiṣṭhanti mānavāḥ /
śraddhāvanto 'nasūyanto mucyante te 'pi karmabhiḥ //
ye tv etad-abhyasūyanto nā7nutiṣṭhanti me matam /
sarva-jñāna-vimūḍhāṃs tān viddhi naṣṭān acetasaḥ //
iti svā3jñā2nuvartinaḥ praśasya viparītān vinindya punar api svā3jñā2nupālanam akurvatām āsur aprakṛty-antarbhāvam abhidhāyā7dhamā gatiś co7ktā ---
tān ahaṃ dviṣataḥ krūrān saṃsāreṣu narā1dhamān /
kṣipāmy ajasram aśubhān āsurīṣv eva yoniṣu //
āsurīṃ yonim āpannā mūḍhā janmani janmani /
mām aprāpyai7va kaunteya tato yānty adhamāṃ gatim // iti /
sarva-karmāṇy api sadā kurvāṇo mad-vypāśrayaḥ /
mat-prasādād avāpnoti śāśvataṃ padam avyayam //
iti ca svā3jñā2nuvartināṃ śāśvataṃ padaṃ co7ktam / aśruta-vedāntānāṃ karmaṇy aśraddhā mā bhūd iti devatā2dhikaraṇe 'tivādāḥ kṛtāḥ karma-mātre yathā śraddhā syād iti sarvam eka-śāstram iti veda-vit-siddhāntaḥ /

tad-viṣṇoḥ paramaṃ padam iti viṣṇoḥ parasya brahmaṇaḥ paraṃ padaṃ sadā paśyanti sūraya iti vacanāt sarva-kāla-darśanavantaḥ paripūrṇa-jñānāḥ kecana santī7ti vijñāyate / ye sūrayas te sadā paśyantī7ti vacana-vyaktiḥ, ye sadā paśyanti te sūraya iti vā / ubhaya-pakṣe 'py aneka-vidhānaṃ na saṃbhavatī7ti cet / na / aprāptatvāt sarvasya sarva-viśiṣṭaṃ parama-sthānaṃ vidhīyate / yatho2ktaṃ --- tad-guṇās te vidhīyerann avibhāgād vidhānā1rthe na ced anyena śiṣṭā iti / yathā yad-āgneyo 'ṣṭāka-pāla ity-ādi-karma-vidhau karmaṇo guṇānāṃ cā7prāptatvena sarva-guṇa-viśiṣṭaṃ karma vidhīyate tathā9trā7pi sūribhiḥ sadā dṛśyatvena viṣṇoḥ parama-sthānam aprāptaṃ pratipādayatī7ti na kaścid virodhaḥ / karaṇa-mantrāḥ kriyamāṇā1nuvādinaḥ stotra-śastra-rūpā japā3diṣu viniyuktāś ca prakaraṇa-pathitāś cā7prakaraṇa-pathitāś ca svā1rthaṃ sarvaṃ yathā2vasthitam evā7prāptam aviruddhaṃ brāhmaṇavad bodhayantī7ti hi vaidikāḥ / pragīta-mantra-sādhya-guṇa-guṇi-abhimānaṃ stotram / apragīta-mantra-sādhya-guṇa-guṇi-niṣṭha-guṇā1bhidhānaṃ śastram / niyuktā1rtha-prakāśanāṃ ca devatā4diṣv aprāptā1viruddha-guṇa-viśeṣa-prtipādanaṃ viniyogā1nuguṇam eva / ne7yaṃ śrutir mukta-jana-viṣayā / teśāṃ sadā-darśanā1nupapatteḥ / na+pi mukta-pravāha-viṣayā / sadā paśyantī7ty ekai1ka-kartṛka-viṣayatayā pratīteḥ śruti-bhaṅga-prasaṅgāt / mantrā1rtha-vāda-gatā hy arthāḥ kārya-paratve 'pi siddhyantī7ty-uktam / kiṃ punaḥ siddha-vastuny eva tātparye vyutpatti-siddha iti sarvam upapannam / nanu cā7tra tad-viṣṇoḥ paramaṃ padam iti para-sva-rūpam eva parama-pada-śabdenā7bhidhīyate / samasta-heya-rahitaṃ viṣṇv-ākhyaṃ paraṃ padam ity-ādiṣv avyatireka-darśanāt / nai7vam / kṣayantam asya rajataḥ parāke, tad-akṣare parame vyoman, yo asyā8dhyākṣaḥ parame vyoman, yo veda nihitaṃ guhāyāṃ parame vyoman nityā3diṣu parama-sthānasyai7va darśanam / tad-viṣṇoḥ paramaṃ padam iti vyatireka-nirdeśāc ca / viṣṇv-ākhyaṃ paramaṃ padam iti viśeṣaṇād anyad api paramaṃ padaṃ vidyata iti ca tenai7va jñāyate / tad idaṃ para-sthānaṃ sūribhiḥ sadā-dṛśyatvena pratipādyate /

puruṣaṃ mahāntam āditya-varṇaṃ tamasaḥ parastād ity-atrā7pi tamaḥ-śabdena sai9va prakṛtir ucyate / kevalasya tamaso 'navasthānād eva / rajasaḥ parāke kṣayantam ity-anenai7ka-vākyatvāt tamasaḥ parastād vasantaṃ mahāntam āditya-varṇaṃ puruṣam ahaṃ vede7ty ayam artho 'vagamyate / satyaṃ jñānam anantaṃ brahma / yo veda nihitaṃ guhāyāṃ parame vyoman / tad-akṣare parame vyomann iti tat-sthānam avikāra-rūpaṃ parama-vyoma-śabdā1bhidheyam iti ca gamyate / akṣare parame vyoman nityasya sthānasyā7kṣaratva-śravaṇāt kṣara-rūpā3ditya-maṇḍalā3dayo na parama-vyoma-śabdā1bhidheyāḥ / yatra pūrve sādhyāḥ santi devāḥ, yatra rṣayaḥ prathama-jā ye purāṇā ity-ādiṣu ca ta eva sūraya ity avagamyate / tad-viprāso vipanyavo jāgṛvāṃsaḥ samindhate viṣṇor yat-paraṃ padam ity-atrā7pi viprāso --- medhāvinaḥ, vipanyavaḥ --- stuti-śīlāḥ, jāgṛvāṃsaḥ --- askhalita-jñānās ta evā7skhalita-jñānās tad-viṣṇoḥ paramaṃ padaṃ sadā stuvantaḥ samindhata ity-arthaḥ /

eteṣāṃ parijana-sthānā3dīnāṃ sad eva somye7dam agra āsīd ity-atra jñāna-balā1iśvaryā3di-kalyāṇa-guṇa-gaṇavat-para-brahma-sva-rūpā1ntarbhūtatvāt sad evai7kam evā7dvitīyam iti brahmā1ntarbhāvo 'vagamyate / eṣām api kalyāṇa-guṇai1ka-deśatvād eva sad eva somye7dam agra āsīd ity atre7dam iti śabdasya karma-vaśya-bhoktṛ-varga-miśra-tad-bhogya-bhūta-prapañca-viṣayatvāc ca sadā paśyanti sūraya iti sadā-darśitvena ca teṣāṃ karma-vaśyā1nantarbhāvāt / apahata-pāpme9ty-ādy apipāsa ity-antena salīlo2pakaraṇa-bhūta-tri-guṇa-prakṛti-prākṛta-tat-saṃsṛṣṭa-puruṣa-gataṃ heya-sva-bhāvaṃ sarvaṃ pratiṣidhya satya-kāma ity-anena sva-bhogya-bhogo1pakaraṇa-jātasya sarvasya satyatā pratipāditā / asatyāḥ kāmā yasyā7sau satya-kāmaḥ / kāmyanta iti kāmāḥ / tena pareṇa brahmaṇā sva-bhogya-tad-upakaraṇā3dayaḥ svā1bhimatā ye kāmyante te satyāḥ --- nityā ity-arthaḥ / anyasya līlo2pakaraṇasyā7pi vastunaḥ pramāṇa-saṃbandha-yogyatve saty api vikārā3spadatvenā7sthiratvād tad-viparītaṃ sthiratvam eṣāṃ satya-padeno7cyate / satya-saṃkalpa ity-eteṣu bhogya-tad-upakaraṇā3diṣu nityeṣu niratiśayeṣv ananteṣu sat-svapya-pūrvāṇām aparimitānām arthānām api saṃkalpa-mātreṇa siddhiṃ vadati / eṣāṃ ca bhogo1pakaraṇānāṃ līlo2pakaraṇānāṃ cetanānām acetanānāṃ sthirāṇām asthirāṇām ca tat-saṃkalpā3yatta-sva-rūpa-sthiti-pravṛtti-bhedā3di sarvaṃ vāti satya-saṃkalpa iti /

tau te medhāvinau dṛṣṭvā vedeṣu pariniṣṭhitau /
vedo1pabṛṃhaṇā1rthāya tāv agrāhayata prabhuḥ //
iti vedo1pabṛṃhaṇatayā prārabdhe śrīmad-rāmāyaṇe ---
vyaktam eṣa mahā-yogī paramā3tmā sanātanaḥ /
anādi-madhya-nidhano mahataḥ paramo mahān //
tamasaḥ paramo dhātā śaṅkha-cakra-gadādharaḥ /
śrīvatsa-vakṣā nitya-śrīr ajayyaḥ śāśvato dhruvaḥ //
śārā nānā-vidhāś cā7pi dhanur āyata-vigraham /
anvagacchanta kākut-sthaṃ sarve puruṣa-vigrahāḥ //
viveśa vaiṣṇavaṃ tejaḥ sa-śarīraḥ sahā1nugaḥ //

samastāḥ śaktayaś cai7tā nṛpa yatra pratiṣṭhitāḥ /
tad-viśvairūpyaṃ rūpam antyad-dharer mahat //

nityai7vai7ṣā jagan-mātā viṣṇoḥ śrīr anapāyinī /
yathā sarva-gato viṣṇus tathai9ve7yaṃ dvijo1ttama //
devatve deva-dehe9yaṃ manuṣyatve ca mānuṣī /

vākya-kāraiś cai7tat-sarvaṃ su-spaṣṭam āha --- hiraṇya-mayaḥ puruṣo dṛśyata iti prājñaḥ sarvā1ntaraḥ syāl loka-kāme3śo1padeśāt tatho9dayāt pāpmanām ity-ādinā / tasya ca rūpasyā7nityatā4di vākya-kāreṇai7va pratiṣiddham --- syāt tad-rūpaṃ kṛtakam anugrahā1rthaṃ tac-cetanānām aiśvaryād ity upāsitur anugrahā1rthaḥ parama-puruṣasya rūpa-saṃgraha iti pūrva-pakṣaṃ kṛtvā, rūpaṃ vā9tīndriyam antaḥkaraṇa-pratyakṣaṃ tan-nirdeśād iti / yathā jñānā3dayaḥ parasya brahmaṇaḥ sva-rūpatayā nirdeśāt sva-rūpa-bhūta-guṇās tathe9dam api rūpaṃ śrutyā sva-rūpatayā nirdeśāt sva-rūpa-bhūtam ity-arthaḥ / bhāṣya-kāreṇai7tad vyākhyātam --- añjasai9va viśva-sṛjo rūpaṃ tat tu na cakṣuṣā grāhyaṃ manasā tv akaluṣeṇa sādhanā1ntaravatā gṛhyate, na cakṣuṣā gṛhyate nā7pi vācā manasā tu viśuddhene7ti śruteḥ, na hy rūpāyā devatāyā rūpam upadiśyate, yathā-bhūta-vādi hi śāstram, mahā-rajanaṃ vāsaḥ --- vedā7ham etaṃ puruṣaṃ mahāntam āditya-varṇaṃ tamasaḥ parastād iti prakaraṇā1ntara-nirdeśāc ca sākṣiṇa ity-ādinā hiraṇya-maya iti rūpa-sāmānyāc candra-mukhavat, na mayaḍ atra vikāram ādāya prayujyate, anārabhyatvād ātmana iti / yathā jñānā3di-kalyāṇa-guṇa-gaṇā3nantarya-nirdeśād aparimita-kalyāṇa-guṇa-gaṇa-viśiṣṭaṃ paraṃ brahme7ty avagamyata evam āditya-varṇaṃ puruṣam ity-ādi-nirdeśāt svā1bhimata-svā1nurūpa-kalyāṇatama-rūpaḥ para-brahma-bhūtaḥ puruṣo1ttamo nārāyaṇa iti jñāyate / tathā9sye8śanā jagato viṣṇu-patnī --- hrīś ca te lakṣmīś ca patnyau --- sadā paśyanti sūrayaḥ --- tamasaḥ parastāt --- kṣayantam asya rajasaḥ parāka ity-ādinā patnī-parijana-sthānā3dīnāṃ nirdeśād eva tathai9va santī7ty avagamyate / yathā0ha bhāṣya-kāra --- yathā-bhūta-vādi hi śāstram iti /

vedāḥ pramāṇaṃ ced vidhy-artha-vāda-mantra-gataṃ sarvam apūrvam aviruddham artha-jātaṃ yathā2vasthitam eva bodhayanti / prāmāṇyaṃ ca vedānām autpattikas tu śabdasyā7rthena saṃbandha ity-uktam / yathā2gni-jalā3dīnām auṣṇyā3di-śakti-yogaḥ svābhāvikaḥ, yathā ca cakṣur-ādīnām indriyāṇāṃ buddhi-viśeṣa-jana-śaktiḥ svābhāvikī tathā śabdasyā7pi bodhana-śaktiḥ svābhāvikī / na ca hasta-ceṣṭā4divat saṃketa-mūlaṃ śabdasya bodhakatvam iti vaktuṃ śakyam / anādy-anusaṃdhānā1vicchede 'pi saṃketayitṛ-puruṣā1jñānāt / yāni saṃketa-mūlāni tāni sarvāṇi sākṣād vā paraṃparayā vā jñāyante / na ca deva-dattā3di-śabdavat kalpayituṃ yuktam / teṣu ca sākṣād vā paraṃparayā vā saṃketo jñāyate / gavā3di-śabdānāṃ tv anādy-anusaṃdhānā1vicchede 'pi saṃketā1jñānād eva bodhakatva-śaktiḥ svābhāvikī / ato 'gny-ādīnāṃ dāhakatvā3di-śaktivad indriyāṇāṃ bodhakatva-śaktivac ca śabdasyā7pi bodhakatva-śaktir āśrayaṇīyā //

nanu cen indriyavac chabdasyā7pi bodhakatvaṃ svābhāvikaṃ saṃbandha-grahaṇaṃ bodhakatvāya kim ity apekṣate, liṅgā3divad iti ucyate --- yathā jñāta-saṃbandha-niyamaṃ dhūmā3dy-agny-ādi-vijñāna-janakaṃ tathā jñāta-saṃbandha-niyamaḥ śabdo 'py artha-viśeṣa-buddhi-janakaḥ / evaṃ tarhi śabdo 'py artha-viśeṣasya liṅgam ity anumānaṃ syāt --- nai7vam / śabdā1rthayoḥ saṃbandho bodhya-bodhka-bhāva eva dhūmā3dīnāṃ tu saṃbandhā1ntara iti tasya saṃbandhasya jñāna-dvāreṇa buddhi-janakatvam iti viśeṣaḥ / evaṃ gṛhīta-saṃbandhasya bodhakatva-darśanād anādy-anusaṃdhānā1vicchede 'pi saṃketā1jñānād bodhakatva-śaktir eve7ti niścīyate /

evaṃ bodhakānāṃ pada-saṃghātānāṃ saṃsarga-viśeṣa-bodhakatvena vākya-śabdā1bhidheyānām uccāraṇa-kramo yatra puruṣa-buddhi-pūrvakas te pauruṣeyāḥ śabdā ity ucyante / yatra tu tad-uccāraṇa-kramaḥ pūrva-pūrvo1ccaraṇa-krama-janita-saṃskāra-pūrvakaḥ sarvadā9pauruṣeyās te ca vedā ity+ucyante / etad eva vedānām apauruṣeyatvaṃ nityatvaṃ ca yat-pūrvo1ccāraṇa-krama-janita-saṃskāreṇa tam eva krama-viśeṣaṃ smṛtvā tenai7va krameṇo7ccāryamāṇatvam / te cā7nupūrvī-viśeṣeṇa saṃsthitā akṣara-rāśayo vedā ṛg-yajuḥ-sāmā1tharva-bheda-bhinnā ananta-śākhā vartante / te ca vidhy-artha-vāda-mantra-rūpā vedāḥ para-brahma-bhūta-nārāyaṇa-sva-rūpaṃ tad-ārādhana-prakārā1dhitāt phala-viśeṣaṃ ca bodhayanti / parama-puruṣavat tat-sva-rūpa-tad-ārādhana-tat-phala-jñāpaka-vedā3khya-śabda-jātaṃ nityam eva / vedānām anantatvād duravagāhatvāc ca parama-puruṣa-niyuktāḥ parama-rṣayaḥ kalpe kalpe nikhila-jagad-upakārā1rthaṃ vedā1rthaṃ smṛtvā vidhy-artha-vāda-mantra-mūlāni dharma-śāstrāṇī7tihāsa-purāṇāni ca cakruḥ / laukikāś ca śabdā veda-rāśer uddhṛtyai7va tat-tad-artha-viśeṣa-nāmatayā pūrvavat prayuktāḥ pāraṃparyeṇa prayujyante / nanu ca vaidika eva sarve vācakāḥ śabdāś cec chandasyai7vaṃ bhāṣāyām evam iti lakṣaṇa-bhedaḥ katham upapadyate / ucyate --- teṣām eva śabdānāṃ tasyām evā7nupūrvyāṃ vartamānāṃ tathai9va prayogaḥ / anyatra prayujyamānānām anyathe9ti na kaścid doṣaḥ /

jyotīṃṣi śuklāni ca yāni loke trayo lokā loka-pālās trayī ca /
trayo 'gnayaś cā8hutayaś ca pañca sarve deva devakī-putra eva //
tvaṃ yajñas tvaṃ vaṣaṭ-kāras tvam oṃ-kāraḥ paraṃtapaḥ /
ṛtu-dhāmā vasuḥ pūrvo vasūnāṃ tvaṃ prajā-patiḥ //
jagat-sarvaṃ śarīraṃ te sthairyaṃ te vasu-dhātalam /
agniḥ kopaḥ prasādas te somaḥ śrīvatsa-lakṣaṇaḥ //
jyotīṃṣi viṣṇur bhuvanāni viṣṇur vanāni viṣṇur girayo diśaś ca /
nadyaḥ samudrāś ca sa eva sarvaṃ yad asti yan nā7sti ca vipravarya //
ity-ādi-sāmānādhikaraṇya-prayogeṣu sarvaiḥ śabdaiḥ sarva-śarīratayā sarva-prakāraṃ brahmai7vā7bhidhīyata iti co7ktam / satya-saṃkalapaṃ paraṃ brahma svayam eva bahu-prakāraṃ syām iti saṃkalpyā7cit-samaṣṭi-rūpa-mahā-bhūta-sūkṣma-vastu bhoktṛ-varga-samūhaṃ ca svasmin pralīnaṃ svayam eva vibhajya tasmād bhūta-sūkṣmād vāstuno mahā-bhūtāni sṛṣṭvā teṣu ca bhoktṛ-vargā3tmatayā praveśya taiścid adhiṣṭhitair mahā-bhūtair anyonya-saṃsṛṣṭaiḥ kṛtsnaṃ jagad vidhāya svayam api sarvasyā8tmatayā praviśya paramā3tmatvenā7vasthitaṃ sarva-śarīraṃ bahu-prakāram avatiṣṭhate / yad idaṃ mahā-bhūta-sūkṣmaṃ vastu tad eva prakṛti-śabdenā7bhidhīyate / bhoktṛ-varga-samūha eva puruṣa-śabdena co7cyate / tau ca prakṛti-puruṣau paramā3tma-śarīratayā paramā3tma-prakāra-bhūtau / tat-prakāraḥ paramā3tmai9va prakṛti-puruṣa-śabdā1bhideyaḥ / so 'kāmayata bahu syāṃ prajāyeye7ti --- tat-sṛṣṭvā tad evā7nupraviśat --- tad anupraviśya sac ca tyac cā7bhavan niruktaṃ cā7niruktaṃ ca nilayanaṃ cā7nilayanaṃ ca vijñānaṃ cā7vijñānaṃ ca satyaṃ cā7nṛtaṃ ca satyam abhavad iti pūrvo1ktaṃ sarvam anayai9va śrutyā vyaktam /

etad uktaṃ bhavati --- viṣaya-jñānāni sukha-duḥkha-madhya-sādhāraṇāni / tāni ca viṣayā1dhīna-viśeṣāṇi tathā bhavanti / yena ca viṣaya-viśeṣeṇa viśeṣitaṃ jñānaṃ sukhasya janakam ity abhimataṃ tad-viṣayaṃ jñānam eva sukhaṃ, tad-atireki padā1rthā1ntaraṃ no7palabhyate / tenai7va sukhitva-vyavahāro1papatteś ca / evaṃ-vidha-sukha-sva-rūpa-jñānasya viśeṣakatvaṃ brahma-vyatiriktasya vastunaḥ sā1tiśayam asthiraṃ ca / brahmaṇas tv anavadhikā1tiśayaṃ sthiraṃ ce7ti / ānando brahme7ty ucyate / viṣayā3yattatvāj jñānasya sukha-sva-rūpatayā brahmai7va sukham / tad idam āha --- raso vai saḥ --- rasaṃ he evā7yaṃ labdhvā0nandī bhavatī7ti brahmai7va sukham iti brahma labdhvā sukhī bhavatī7ty-arthaḥ / parama-puruṣaḥ svenai7va svayam anavadhikā1tiśaya-sukhaḥ san parasyā7pi sukhaṃ bhavati / sukha-sva-rūpatvā1viśeṣāt / brahma yasya jñāna-viṣayo bhavati sa sukhī bhavatī7ty-arthaḥ / tad evaṃ parasya brahmaṇo 'navadhikā1tiśayā1saṃkhyeya-kalyāṇa-guṇa-gaṇā3karasya niravadyasyā7nanta-mahā-vibhūter anavadhikā1tiśaya-sauśīlya-saundarya-vātsalya-jala-dheḥ sarva-śeṣitvād ātmanaḥ śeṣatvāt pratibaṃdhitayā9nusaṃdhīyamānam anavadhikā1tiśaya-prīti-viṣayaṃ sat paraṃ brahmai7vai7nam ātmānaṃ prāpayatī7ti /

iti / tad idam anadhigata-dehā1tiriktā3tma-rūpāṇāṃ śarīrā3tmā1bhimāna-vijṛmbhitam / tathā hi --- śarīraṃ hi manuṣyatvā3di-jāti-guṇā3śraya-piṇḍa-bhūtaṃ sva-tantraṃ pratīyate / tasminn evā7ham iti saṃsāriṇāṃ pratītiḥ / ātmā1bhimāno yādṛśas tad-anuguṇai9va puruṣā1rtha-pratītiḥ / siṃha-vyāghra-varāha-manuṣya-yakṣa-rakṣaḥ-piśāca-deva-dānava-strī-puṃsa-vyavasthitā3tmā1bhimānānāṃ sukhāni vyavasthitāni / tāni ca paraspara-viruddhāni / tasmād ātmā1bhimānā1nuguṇa-puruṣā1rtha-vyavasthayā sarvaṃ samāhitam / ātma-sva-rūpaṃ tu devā3di-deha-vilakṣaṇaṃ jñānai1kā3kāram / tac ca para-śeṣatai2ka-sva-rūpam / yathā2vasthitā3tmā1bhimāne tad-anuguṇai9va puruṣā1rtha-pratītiḥ / ātmā jñāna-mayo 'mala iti smṛter jñānai1kā3kāratā pratipannā / patiṃ viśvasye7ty-ādi śruti-guṇaiḥ paramā3tma-śeṣatai2kā3kāratā ca pratītā / ataḥ siṃha-vyāghrā3di-śarīrā3tmā1bhimānavat svātantryā1bhimāno 'pi karma-kṛta-viparītā3tma-jñāna-rūpo veditavyaḥ / ataḥ karma-kṛtam eva parama-puruṣa-vyatirikta-viṣayāṇāṃ sukhatvam / ata eva teṣām alpatvam asthiratvaṃ ca parama-puruṣasyai7va svata eva sukhatvam / atas tad eva sthiram anavadhikā1tiśayaṃ ca --- kaṃ brahma khaṃ brahma --- ānando brahma --- satyaṃ jñānam anantaṃ brahme7ti śruteḥ / brahma-vyatiriktasya kṛtsnasya vastunaḥ sva-rūpeṇa sukhatvā1bhāvaḥ karma-kṛtatvena cā7sthiratvaṃ bhagavatā parāśareṇo7ktam ---
naraka-svarga-saṃjñe vai pāpa-puṇye dvijo1ttama /
vastv ekam eva duḥkhāya sukhāye8rṣyā1gamāya ca /
kopāya ca yatas tasmād vastu vastv-ātmakaṃ kutaḥ //
sukha-duḥkhā3dy-ekā1nta-rūpiṇo vastuno vastutvaṃ kutaḥ / tad-ekā1ntatā puṇya-pāpa-kṛte9ty-arthaḥ / evam aneka-puruṣā1pekṣayā kasyacit sukham eva kasyacid duḥkhaṃ bhavatī7ty-avasthāṃ pratipādya, ekasminn api puruṣe na vyavasthitam ity-āha ---
tad eva prīyate bhūtvā punar-suḥkhāya jāyate /
tad eva kopāya yataḥ prasādāya ca jāyate //
tasmād duḥkhā3tmakaṃ nā7sti na ca kiṃcit sukhā3tmakam /
iti sukha-duḥkhā3tmakatvaṃ sarvasya vastunaḥ karma-kṛtaṃ na vastu-sva-rūpa-kṛtam / ataḥ karmā1vasāne tad apaitī7ty-arthaḥ /

yat tu sarvaṃ para-vaśaṃ duḥkham ity-uktaṃ tat-parama-puruṣa-vyatiriktānāṃ paraspara-śeṣa-śeṣi-bhāvā1bhāvāt tad-vyatiriktaṃ prati śeṣatā duḥkham eve7ty-uktam / sevā śva-vṛttir ākhyāte9ty atrā7py asevya-sevā śva-vṛttir eve7ty-uktam / sa hy āśramaiḥ sado9pāsyaḥ samastair eka eva tv iti sarvair ātma-yāthātmya-vedibhiḥ sevyaḥ puruṣo1ttama eka eva / yatho9ktaṃ bhagavatā ---
māṃ ca yo 'vyabhicāreṇa bhakti-yogena sevate /
sa guṇān samatītyai7tān brahma-bhūyāya kalpate //
itī7yam eva bhakti-rūpā sevā brahma-vid āpnoti param --- tam evaṃ vidvān amṛta iha bhavati --- brahma veda brahmai7va bhavatī7ty-ādiṣu vedana-śabdenā7bhidhīyata ity-uktam / yam evai7ṣa vṛṇute tena labhya iti viśeṣaṇād yam evai7ṣa vṛṇuta iti bhavagatā varaṇīyatvaṃ pratīyate / varaṇīyaś ca priyatamaḥ / yasya bhagavaty anavadhikā1tiśayā prītir jāyate sa eva bhagavataḥ priyatamaḥ / tad uktaṃ bhagavatā ---
priyo hi jñānino 'ty-artham ahaṃ sa ca mama priyaḥ /
iti / tasmāt para-bhakti-rūpā3pannam eva vedanaṃ tattvato bhagavat-prāpti-sādhanam / yatho9ktaṃ bhagavatā dvaipāyanena mokṣa-dharme sarvo1paniṣad-vyākhyāna-rūpam ---
na saṃdṛśo tiṣṭhati rūpam asya na cakṣuṣā paśyati kaścanai7nam /
bhaktyā ca dhṛtyā ca samāhitā3tmā jñāna-sva-rūpaṃ paripaśyatī7tī7ha //
dhṛtyā samāhitā3tmā bhaktyā puruṣo1ttamaṃ paśyati --- sākṣātkaroti --- prāpnotī7ty-arthaḥ / bhaktyā tv anannyayā śakya ity-anenā7ikārthyāt / bhaktiś ca jñāna-viśeṣa eve7ti sarvam upapannam /
