pūrvānubhuvasyaiva tāniprayojanānīticet, sarvajagadādikāraṇasya brahmasaṃkalpasyaiva kiṃ na syuḥ ? /
evaṃ cānubhavasyāpi na tatsiddhiḥ, tatkāraṇasyeti vaktuṃ śakyatvāt /
yaduktaṃ prajñāparitrāṇe--- "jñātātmajñānarūpatvāt svaprameyaprahāṇataḥ /
viṣayāvyabhicāritvepyaprāmāṇyaṃ smṛtermatam" //

pramāṇavyavahārābhāvādaprāmāṇyamiti cenna, pāmaravyavadvārābhāvasyānaikāntikatvāt, evaṃ parīkṣakavyavahāra bhāvasyāpi; vigītatvācca; sarvaparīkṣakavyavahārābhāvasya cāsiddheḥ; mānamanoharādau vāgīśvarādibhistaprāmāṇyasyoktatvāt, katipayaparīkṣakavyahārābhāvasya cātiprasañjakatvāt, akṣapādādivyahārāvyavahārayorbṛhaspatyādivyavahāravadasmābhirnātīvādaraṇāt, indrapāṇinyādīnāṃ tu sarvasaṃpratipatterabādhāccādarāt, pārāśaryādīnāṃ pramāṇaparigaṇanānadhikṛtatvena tadanukteraprayojakatvāt, āgamaḥ pramāṇamityapi vyavahārābhāvāt /
"pratyakṣaṃ cānumānaṃ ca śāstraṃ ca vividhāgamam /
ityādiṣu ca pratyakṣādimūlasmṛteḥ pratyakṣādisamānacarcatvena pṛthagvyavahārābhāvopapatteḥ /
pramāṇahetukā smṛtiḥ pramāṇameva, avisaṃvādāt, iti /
uktaṃ ca nyāyatattve smṛtyudāsīnabhedake caturthedhikaraṇe--- "apramāṇamūlatvaṃ tu ubhayorapi nāsti, vyabhicārābhāvenānadhigatārthaṃ pramāṇamiti viśeṣaṇasyāyuktatvāt /
pramite pramityanupapattiḥ kva dṛṣṭā ? /
smṛtau cet, pratijñaiva dṛṣṭāntaḥ syāt; jñānāntare cenna nujānāmi" ityādi /
tattvaratnākare ca--- "yathārthaniścayo mānaṃ taddhetuśceti sūrayaḥ /
nātivyāptiḥ smṛtau vyāptiryathārthena hi sā pramā" //
ityuktvā asyottarārdhavivaraṇepyuktam--- "anubhūtaviṣayāsaṃpramoṣaḥ smṛtiḥ; yathā---sa ghaṭa ati /
nanu tāmapi vyāpnoti lakṣaṇamya ; satyam; tadvyāptau nātivyāptiḥ, tasyāpi lakṣyapakṣe nikṣepāt /
"lakṣyālakṣye anālakṣya kṣipyate lakṣaṇaṃ katham /
lokadhīvyavahāraṃ hi lakṣyālakṣyāvadhi viduḥ" //

yattu--- "anubhavaḥ pramāṇam /
smṛtivyatiriktaṃ jñānamanubhavaḥ" ityādinā smṛteraprāmāṇyamuktamiva śrīviṣṇucittaiḥ, tannūnaṃ paramatānvāroheṇa /
ata eva hi taiḥ svataḥ prāmāṇyanirṇayadaśāyāmanyathā vyavahṛtam /
tathāhi--- "tasmāt siddhametat pramāṇānāṃ yathārthatvalakṣaṇaṃ prāmāṇyaṃ guṇajñānānapekṣāt svapramāṇādevāvasīyate, svakīyāt kāraṇādeva jñāyata iti ca" iti /
tathā "arthatathātvaṃ guṇasaṃvādajñānānapekṣajñapti, tadabhāvepi jñāyamānatvāt" ityādau /
"na ca hetorasiddhatvam; tathāhi--- rajatajñānasyārthatathātvaṃ nāma rajataviṣayatvam; taccāsati bādhake rajatagrāhiṇaiva jñānenāvagamyate" ityādi /
ato yathāvasthitavastuniścayātmakatvameva prāmāṇyaṃ pramāṇajñānānāmātmīyāt kāraṇājjñāyate, na guṇasaṃvādajñānamapekṣate, iti /
tathā pramāṇānāṃ yathāvasthitavastuniścayātmakatvameva prāmāṇyam /
tadābhāsayuktayaḥ pūrvapakṣiṇocyante /
siddhāntepi vivekapradarśanameveti /
yadi cānubhava eva pramāṇam, tanna yuktamupayuktaṃ vā /
na ca sarvamanubhavaṃ pramāṇatayā vyavaharanti, pītaśaṅkhabhramādiṣvadarśanāt; nāpi sarvāṃ smṛtimapramāṇatayā, pramāṇamūlasmṛtiṣu tadabhāvāt /
"agṛhītagrahaṇaśaktaṃ pramāṇam" iti varadaviṣṇumiśroktirapi paramatānvāroheṇa netavyā /
yattu āgamaprāmāṇye proktam--- "pramāṇāntaradṛṣṭārthaviṣayavyāpiśemuṣī /
pramāṇameva tatpūrvaṃ na cet svārthaṃ vigāhate" //
iti, idamapyanuvādavākyasyānyaparatayā svārthaprāmāṇyavyavacchedārtham; anyathā smṛtipramoṣe pramuṣitatadaṃśe pūrvānubhavapuraskāreṇa svārthāvagāhanāsiddheḥ kathaṃ tatra smṛtitvanibandhanamaprāmāṇyaṃ bhaviṣyati ? //
nyā. pa. śa. 50 yattu bhāṣye sanmātragrāhipratyakṣanirākaraṇadaśāyāmuktam-- "aśve hastini ca saṃvedanayorekaviṣayatvenoparitanasya gṛhītagrāhitvād viśeṣābhāvācca smṛtivailakṣaṇyaṃ na syāt" iti, na tatra smṛteraprāmāṇyaṃ sūcitam, prakārāntareṇāpi vailakṣaṇyasiddheḥ, tadapekṣayā ca prasaṅgopapatteḥ /
yaccāparaṃ bhāṣyam--- "indriyajanmanaḥ pratyakṣasya hyeṣa svabhāvaniyamaḥ, yat svasamakālavartinaḥ padārthasya grāhakatvam, na tu sarveṣāṃ jñānānāṃ pramāṇānāṃ ca, smaraṇānumānāgamayogipratyakṣādiṣu kālāntaravartinopi grahaṇadarśanāt" ityādi, tatrāpi parasyāniṣṭaprasaṅgāya tadabhiprāyānudhāvanena vibhajyodāharaṇaṃ yuktam /
yacca śāstrayonyadhikaraṇe bhāṣitam--- "bhāvanāprakarṣaparyantajanmanastasya viśadāvabhāsatvepi pūrvānubhūtaviṣayasmṛtimātratvānna prāmāṇyamiti kutaḥ pratyakṣatā ?" iti, idamapi na sākṣāt siddhāntastham; na ca yāthārthyaṃ tatra pratikṣiptam /
evamanyadapi bhāvyam /
smṛtyaprāmāṇyavādinopi vaiśeṣikāstāṃ yathārthyādvidyākoṭau paṭhanti /
tata eva ca tadekadeśibhirapi tatprāmāṇyaṃ svīkṛtam, iti //
