paraṃ kathamavijñāpya pāratantryasya bodhanam /
vijñāpya yadi śabdasya tatra śaktirna kiṃ bhavet /
parasya paratantreṇa tathā buddhena bodhanam /
tadbuddhyā paratantrasya bodhanenyonyasaṃśrayaḥ /

śvetaketuśarīrakeśvaranirdeśe tadābhimukhyenopadeśāyogaḥ /
taduddeśena tvamarthavidhānaṃ cāsiśabdānanvayādinā dūranirastam /
prāptārthatayā nigamanarūpatvepipava viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhedo niṣkarṣaṇīyaḥ /
evam "ahaṃ brahmāsmi" ityādivyapadeśopi durnirvahaḥ /
"jīvenātmanā" ityatrāpyātmaśabdena jīvātmādyabhidhānaṃ ṣāṣyakāravacanaviruddham, jīvena mayetyādivyapadeśāt /
paramātmābhidhāne tu tṛtīyānupapattiḥ, "vyākaravāṇi" ityabhihitatvāt /
kriyābhedepi kṛtvāderuttarakriyaikarasyāt kartrantarāyuktiḥ, samānakartṛkatvavirodhāt /
karaṇatvavivakṣayā kartari tṛtīyāyāṃ mukhyatvahāniḥ /
ataścāreṇānupraviśya parabalaṃ saṃkalayānītivajjīvasyavai praviśatikartṛtvam; parastu vyākaraṇamātrakartā /
tāvatā tu śabdānāṃ na tatparyantatvasiddhiḥ iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 11 atrocyate saṃbuddhistāvadatra ātmavidyopadeśena śvetaketumātraparyavasiteti nāsaṃbodhyasaṃbodhanam /
vacanavyaktiśca tadasītyeva /
tatra kāryakāraṇabhāvena, śarīrātmabhāvena vā sāmānādhikaraṇyanirvāhaḥ /
ubhayatra tvaṃśabdasyāpi tacchabdābhihitadravyaparyavasānaṃ siddham //
dharmāntaraviśeṣyasya dharmāntaraviśeṣyataḥ /
svasmādabhedastādātmyaṃ syādupādānadehinoḥ //
atastvaccharīrakaṃ brahmeti vivakṣāyāṃ satyāṃ tvaṃ taditi nirdeśamātramupapannam /
madhyamapuruṣaśca tvaṃśabdaprayoganibandhanaḥ, "yuṣmadyupapade samānādhikaraṇe sthāninyapi madhyamaḥ" iti vidhānāt /
ataḥ sopi tvaṃśabdaparyavasānaviṣayaparyavasitaḥ /
yadvā tat tvamasītyevānvayostu /
na coddeśyānuguṇā tiṅvibhaktiriti niyamaḥ, upādeyānuguṇaliṅgavacanādinirdeśavadatrāpi virodhābhāvāt /
prayuñjate ca patañjaliprabhṛtaya upādeyānuguṇāmapi tiṅvibhaktim--- "sa punarāvṛttaḥ suvarṇapiṇḍaḥ khadirāṅgārasavarṇe kuṇḍale bhavataḥ" ityādiṣu /
etena "ahaṃ brahmāsmi" ityādikamapi nirvyūḍham /
"jīvenātmānā" ityatrāpyanena nyāyena svaśabdaparyāyeṇātmaśabdena jīvaśabdasya sāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ tāvat siddham /
tṛtīyānupapattistu svarūpatādātmyapakṣe pṛthaktvapakṣe ca samānā /
athāṃśabhedādinā vibhajya karaṇatvādivivakṣayā kathañcinnirvāhaḥ, tathā viśiṣṭākārādibhedavivakṣayā vibhajyātrāpi nirvāhamanumanyethāḥ /
ataḥ śrutyādivākyeṣu viruddhārthānubandhinaḥ /
sāmānādhikaraṇyasya na svarūpaikyaniṣṭhatā //
kāryatvādapṛthaksiddherāviśādanukārataḥ /
astisṛṣṭyupakārādeḥ sāmānādhikaraṇyadhīḥ //
na ca tvaddṛṣṭaḥ puruṣaḥ sthāṇuritivat "puruṣa evedaṃ sarvam" "tattvamasi" ityādau bādhārthaṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyamiti vācyam, mukhyavṛttisaṃbhave tadayogāt, prapañcasatyatvādeścābādhitapratyakṣādibalasiddhatvāt /
cidaṃśasāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ tu na bādhasaham, tvayāpi tatsatyatvābhyupagamāt /
svarūpaikyavidhāne ca viruddhadharmapratirodhāt, tatparityāge padayoranatiriktārthatayā paryāyapadasāmānādhikaraṇyaprasaṅgāt, dvārābhāvena mukhyavṛttibādhāpatteḥ, gatyantare ca saṃbhavati tadayogāt, svarūpamātranirdeśe ca padāntaravaiyarthyāt, svarūpabhedasya ca bahupramāṇasiddhatvāt //
nyā. pa. śa. 12 "satyaṃ jñānam---" ityādilakṣaṇavākyamapi satyatvādiviśiṣṭaikaviṣayam, tathaiva sāmānādhikaraṇyavyutpatteḥ /
na cātra viśeṣaṇabhedādviviśeṣyabhedāprasaṅgaḥ, viruddhaviśeṣaṇābhāvāt; na hi ghaṭapaṭādiṣviva virodhaḥ /
yathā ca pratyakṣe nīlatvotpalatvāderavirodho darśanabalāt, tathātrāpi /
na ca satyatvajñānatvādervaiyadhikaraṇyaniyamo dṛṣṭaḥ, yena virodhaḥ syāt /
viśeṣyaikyapare tu sāmānādhikaraṇye viśeṣaṇānāṃ viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyayośca mitho bhedo guṇa eva /
na ca viśeṣyaikyavadviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyaikyaprasaktiḥ, viśeṣaṇānāmaikyaprasaktirvā, lakṣaṇāvirodhādidoṣāt, atathāvyutpatteśca /
nāpi viśiṣṭe viśiṣṭāntaravidhānādviśeṣaṇānāṃ mithaḥ samavāyādidoṣaḥ, yugapadanekaviśiṣṭaikābhidhānāt, anūdya vidhāneṣvapi yathā vyutpatti dharmapradhānatvācca //
nyā. pa. śa. 13 na ca viśeṣaṇaṃ sarvaṃ viśeṣaṇāntarāsaham, virodhimātravirodhitvāt, anyathā pratyakṣavirodhāt sādhyasādhakadharmādiviśiṣṭaviṣayānumānādyanudayaprasaṅgāt, evantvādidaṃ viśiṣṭabodhakaṃ na bhavatītyādi vyavahārasyāpi vilopaḥ syāt /
na ca śabdane pratipādane tathā, aviśeṣāt, pratyakṣādivacchabdenāpi yathāvastu bodhanīyatvāt /
viśeṣaṇamātraparatvaṃ tu nābhyupagatameva, yena viśiṣṭaikyāsiddhiḥ syāt /
yasya tu viśeṣyamātraparatvaṃ, tasya paryāyatulyatvāt padāntaravaiyarthyalakṣaṇabhaṅgalakṣaṇādidoṣaḥ, pravṛttinimittānāṃ viśeṣaṇānāṃ tyāgāt, viśeṣyamātrasya ca dvārarahitasyālakṣyatvāt /
itaravyāvṛttīnāṃ tūpalakṣaṇatve svarūpatve ca padāntaravaiyarthyādidoṣaḥ sa eva //
nyā. pa. śa. 14 evaṃ tāsāṃ viśeṣaṇatve pakṣāntaravadviśiṣṭabhedādidoṣastvadukta āpatet, na cennānyatrāpi /
tyaktapravṛttinimittasya tadvirodhivyāvṛttyabhilāṣastvālokamapahāya timiranirākaraṇavāñchā /
vipratipannaṃ vākyamakhaṇḍaparam, samānādhikaraṇavākyatvāt, soyaṃ devadattaḥ iti vākyavat, yadvā lakṣaṇavākyatvāt, prakṛṣṭaprakāśaścandraḥ ityādivat iti cenna, dṛṣṭāntāsiddheḥ, tattedantāviśiṣṭasyaiva devadattasya soyamiti pratīteḥ /
yugapat tayorvyāghāta iti cenna, yaugapadyasyānabhidhānāt, anākṣepācca /
yugapat pratipattistu na doṣaḥ, anyathā pratyabhijñābhaṅge kṣaṇabhaṅganairātmyāpalāpādivādā vijayeran /
tathāpyatītatvavartamānatve kathamekasya ? iti cet, svapradhvaṃsakāle hi svayamatītaḥ syāt, na cāsau pradhvastaḥ, vartamānatvopalaṃbhāt; atītopādhiviśeṣasaṃbandhitayā hi tattvam, na tvatītatayā /
kathamekaṃ pūrvamaparaṃ ca ? iti cenna, pratibandhyupādhibhedenobhayopapatteḥ, anyathā kṣaṇasyāpi pūrvāparamadhyavartinaḥ kṣodaprasaṅgāt; na hi tasya pūrvasmādapi pūrvatvameva, uttarasmādapyuttaratvameva vā /
kṣudyatāṃ kṣaṇopīti cenna, sarvāpahnavaprasaṅgāt, iti /
tiṣṭhattvetat; dvitīyopi dṛṣṭānto viśiṣṭapara eva, anyathā vyāvṛttapratītyanudayaprasaṅgāt, prakṛṣṭatvādiviśeṣaṇavaiyarthyācca /
evaṃ śrutibādhopyanumānayorvaktavyaḥ, paryāyatulyatvādiprasaṅgalakṣaṇapratikūlatarkaśca /
tathā vipratipannaṃ vākyaṃ viśiṣṭaparam, ākāṅkṣāyuktavākyatvāt, vyadhikaraṇavākyavat, iti bādhakamanumānamapi, pratipattyanurodhāt dṛṣṭāntasiddheścāsya balīyastvam /
bhinnapravṛttinimittānāṃ śabdānāmekasminnarthe vṛttiḥ sāmānādhikaraṇyamiti śābdairevoktam /
tatra bhinnapravṛttinimittānāmiti paryāyavyāvṛttiḥ /
ekasminniti vyadhikaraṇānāṃ ghaṭaḥ paṭaityādyananvitānāṃ ca vyavacchedārtham /
śabdānām arthe iti ca vyaktyarthameva, arthe iti viśeṣyasya pradhānatayā vācyatvasūcanārthaṃ vā /
tena vyadhikaraṇavākyeṣvekapradhānārthe vṛttisaṃbhavepiva tasya viśeṣyatavabhāvād vyavacchedyatā /
viśeṣyabodhanavyāpāro vṛttiḥ pravṛttiriti ca sāmānyato viśeṣataścātrocyate /
prakṛṣṭā hi vṛttiḥ pravṛttiḥ /
prakarṣaścātra viśeṣyaviṣayatayā /
tatra yadupādhikā viśeṣye śabdavṛttiḥ, tat pravṛttinimittam /
bhinnaviśeṣaṇadvāreṇaikaviśeṣyābhidhānaṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyamityuktaṃ bhavati //
nyā. pa. śa. 15 nanu pauruṣeyaṃ sarvamanvitārthamiti pratipāditam, tannopapadyate, guṇavadvaktṛpraṇītasyaiva vākyasya tathātvadarśanāt, iti cenna, svataḥ prāmāṇyāt, svarasato hi sarvaṃ jñānasabādhitavyavahārajanakaṃ dṛśyate /
bhedāgrahādiviśeṣopādhikaṃ hi kvacid bādhyavyavahārahetutvam /
tataḥ svābhāvikamapi prāmāṇyaṃ pratibandhakena doṣeṇa kvacidapahnutam; yathāgnerauṣṇyam /
tatra tadaṃśāpekṣayā prāmāṇyameva /
guṇāstu saṃbhāvitadoṣasthale doṣanirākaraṇaupayikāḥ, pramāṇyasya tairvyāptyabhāvāt, nityasarvajñavādināṃ pramāṇabhūte tajjñāne vyabhicārāt /
aprāmāṇyasya tu doṣādhīnatvamavyabhicaritānvayavyatirekasiddham /
avastunoprāmāṇyasya kathaṃ hetusādhyatvamiti cenna, saṃśayatvaviparyayatvādirūpasya tasyāvastutvābhāvāt, bhāvāntarātiriktasya cābhāvasyāsmābhiranabhyupagamāt, abhyupagamepi pradhvaṃsasya mudgarādisādhyatvadṛṣṭeḥ /
tadvat pramāpi samyaṅmithyābodhasādhāraṇādatiriktasahitā jāyate, kāryatve sati tadviśeṣatvāt, apramāvat; prāmāṇyaṃ parato jñāyate, anabhyāsadaśāyāṃ sāṃśayikatvāt, aprāmāṇyavat, iti cet, tatra prathame kṛtsnapramāpakṣīkāre hetoḥ svamate bhāgāsiddhirḥ, iśvarapramāyā nityatvābhyupagamāt /
anīśvarapramāpakṣīkāre yāvadīśvarasiddhi vyarthaṃ viśeṣaṇam /
riśvarānumānasamanantaraṃ prayogaḥ iti cenna, tasya śāstrayonyadhikaraṇanyāyenānumātumaśakyatvāt /
tarhi viśeṣaṇaṃ na prayokṣyāmahe iti cenna, svābhimateśvarapramayānaikāntyāt /
anabhyupagateśvaraiḥ saugatādibhirevaṃ prayoge kaḥ parihāraḥ iti cenna, śrutisiddhanityapramāsamarthanena bādhasyānaikāntikasya vā vaktuṃ śakyatvāt /
śrutisiddhanityapramāvyavacchedena kāryatvaviśeṣaṇaṃ saphalaṃ syāt hi cet, tarhi śrutyā tatsiddhiḥ śrutiprāmāṇyanirṇayamantareṇa kathaṃ syāt ? /
tatprāmāṇyaṃ ca nityanirdeṣatayābhyupagamyate cet, kathaṃ tatra parataḥ prāmāṇyetpattiḥ ? vaktṛguṇādhīnaṃ vākyānāṃ prāmāṇyamiti hi vaḥ siddhāntaḥ /
nirdeṣataiva guṇaḥ, iti tadadhīnatayā tatra parataḥ prāmāṇyamiti cenna, pratibandhakābhāvasya paraiḥ kāraṇatvānabhyupagamāt /
abhyupagame ca tāvanmātradhīnatvepi vedāpauruṣeyatvanityatvāderavirodhāt; vedapauruṣeyatvādisiddhyarthaṃ hi vaḥ parataḥ prāmāṇyasamarthanārambhaḥ /
tadapauruṣeyatvādisiddhyarthameva cāsmābhiḥ svataḥ prāmāṇyaṃ pratipādyate /
athāptoktatayā vedaprāmāṇyādīśvarasiddhau tatpramāvyavacchedāya viśeṣaṇamitīṣyate, tadapi na, parataḥ prāmāṇye nirṇīte vadesyāptamūlaprāmāṇyasiddhiḥ, tatsiddhau ceśvarasiddhiḥ, tatpramāvyavacchedāya viśeṣaṇam, saviśeṣaṇaśvāsau hetuḥ parataḥ prāmāṇyaṃ sādhayet, iti cakrakāśrayaprasaṅgārt /
iśvarānumānānyathāsiddhiparihārāya parataḥ prāmāṇyaṃ nyāyakusumāñjalau samarthyate /
tatraiva ca kāryatvaviśeṣaṇaṃ prayujyate /
na cāsiddhivyavacchedāya viśeṣaṇaṃ yuktam; siddhatve tu parataḥ prāmāṇyasamarthanasya na tadarthateti dustaratā /
tathāpi śabdaprāmāṇyaṃ vaktṛguṇādhīnamiti cenna, viśeṣakābhāvāt, doṣasaṃbhāvanāsthale ca tadapekṣaṇāt, vedasya canirdeṣatvāt /
doṣābhāvādhīnatve parataḥ prāmāṇyaṃ siddhamiti cenna, tadadhīnatvābhāvāt, tasya virodhanivṛttimātrarūpatvāt /
astu vā tadadhīnatvam, tathāpi vede tu na doṣaḥ /
guṇamantareṇa doṣābhāvo na ghaṭata iti cet, anuṣṇāśītasparśavadubhayanivṛtterapi darśanāt, upapatteśca /
bhāvāntarābhāvavādino doṣābhāvopi guṇa eveti cenna, svābhāvāntareṇa tannirvāhāt /
na hi tasyāpi śītābhāva uṣṇa eva, anuṣṇāśīte tadasiddheḥ /
ubhayasaṃgrahaṇena hi śītābhāvatvam /
tadvadatrāpi saguṇeṣvāptavākyeṣu vaktṛguṇarahiteṣu vedavākyeṣu ca doṣābhāvaḥ samānaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 16 nanu śabdānāṃ svataḥ prāmāṇye buddhādivākyamapi svataḥ pramāṇaṃ syāt /
na syāt, svatastvasyotsargarūpatvāt, virodhiviśeṣe ca tasyānanupraveśāt /
uktaṃ cāgamaprāmāṇye--- "naiva śabde svato doṣāḥ prāmāṇyaparipanthinaḥ /
santi kintu svatastasya pramāṇatvamiti sthitiḥ //
vakturāśayadoṣeṇa keṣu cittadapodyate /
aṅgulyagre hi mātaṅgayūthamityevamādiṣu" //

kiñca, nitye hetuguṇāpekṣā vede nāstīśabuddhivat /
hetvabhāvānna doṣaścedūvaktrabhāvādihāpi naḥ //
akāraṇaṃ yathā jñānaṃ pramātvamadhigacchati /
akāraṇaṃ tathā vākyaṃ svataḥ pramitikāraṇam //
yadi hetuguṇābhāvādaprāmāṇyaṃ prasajyate /
tadeśvarapramāyāmapyanivāryamidaṃ tava //
nyā. pa. śa. 17 athaiva brūṣe---kāraṇaguṇadoṣayorabhāve tatprayojyayoḥ prāmāṇyāprāmāṇyayordvayorapyasaṃbhavādraśyantarāyogācca niḥsvabhāvatvaṃ vedaśabdajanyajñānānāṃ syāditi; idamapi tulyamīśvarajñāne /
hetunivṛttistatkāryaṃ prāmāṇyaṃ nivartayet, na tu nityamiti cet, aprāmāṇyahetunivṛttirapi tathaiva /
ato viruddhasvabhāvayogaḥ ubhayaparityāgānniḥsvabhāvaitava vā syāt /
evamanīśvaravādināṃ saugatādīnāṃ śuddhasaṃvitsantānādiṣvadhipatisahakāryādikāraṇatadguṇāderasaṃbhavāt svārasikasvātmagocaraprāmāṇyasya cābhyupagamāt samāścarcāḥ /
yadyapi pūrvapratyayasyakāraṇatvamiṣṭam, tathāpi tasyāpavargadaśāsthasya guṇadoṣādirūpasamastasaṃskārapratyarthitayā na tajjanyasya guṇahetuteti /
yacca, prāmāṇyaṃ parato jñāyate, iti prayuktam, tatra jñānāntareṇa jñānāntarasvabhāvavedanābhyupagamāt siddhasādhanatā /
parata eveti vivakṣāyāmīdṛśaṃ jñānaṃ prameti lakṣaṇataḥ sarvapramāsaṅgrāhiṇi jñāne pārameśvare ca vijñāne tadasaṃbhavaḥ; na hi tābhyāṃ svapramātvaṃ na gṛhītam, lakṣaṇāvyāptikiñcijjñatvādiprasaṅgāt /
atonyatra parata eveti niyama iti cet, tadapi na, taddṛṣṭāntenaiva pratiprayoktuṃ śakyatvāt-vigītaṃ prāmāṇyaṃ svādhāreṇa jñāyate, prāmāṇyarūpatvāt, riśvarajñānādiprāmāṇyavat iti /
kathaṃ tarhi idaṃ pramāṇamapramāṇaṃ veti saṃśayāvakāśaḥ ? iti cenna, viśeṣato gṛhyamāṇeṣvapi saṃśayotpattidarśanāt /
bhavati muhuḥ śuktikārajatamohādandhīkṛtadhiyaḥ kaladhautepi tathopalabhyamāne yathopalambhamidaṃ rajatameva vā pūrvavacchuktirajataṃ veti purataḥ /
tathātrāpi gṛhyamāṇepi prāmāṇye kimidaṃ pramāṇameva sat pramāṇatayopalambhate ? uta, bādhāt pūrvabhramavadapramāṇaṃ sat ? iti saṃśayo yuktaḥ /
tathāpi sandehasahena kiṃ svatograhaṇena ? niścayastu parādhīna eveti cet, kimasmadapekṣayā grahaṇamagrahaṇaṃ vā niyantuṃ śakyam ? siddho hi grahaṇaprakāraḥ parīkṣakairanusaraṇīyaḥ /
siddhireva svataḥ kathamiti cet, ittham---jñānaṃ svālambanaṃ prakāśayat svayamapi jñānāntaranirapekṣaṃ prakāśate, iti tāvat sarvavedāntisaṃmatam /
asvayaṃprakāśavādepi svagrāhiṇānuvyavasāyena prakāśamāno vyavasāyastāvadasaṃśayātmaiva dṛśyate //
nyā. pa. śa. 18 smṛtyaprāmāṇyavādepyapūrvārthagocaratayā smṛtivilakṣaṇaścāviparyayātmā cābādhātmā ca, vādhādeḥ pūrvaṃ tatprasaṅgābhāvāt /
tataśca yadviṣayatayāyaṃ vyavasāyaḥ prathamaṃ pratibhātaḥ, tadviṣayatayaiva parasparaparikṣodāt paścādapi /
ato yat tadviṣayatvalakṣaṇaṃ prāmāṇyaṃ paścāt tenaiva vyavasthāpyate, tadādāveva gṛhītamiti svataḥ prāmāṇyagrahaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 19 nanvevaṃ saṃśayatvādilakṣaṇamaprāmāṇyamapi svayaṃprakāśenānuvyavasāyena vā prathamamave grahītuṃ śakyam; tathāpi viparyayatvalakṣaṇaṃ na tathā, gṛhyamāṇavaiparītyasya svena svagrāhiṇā vā prathamamagrahaṇāt, tasminnaṃśe ca vaidikānāmavivādāt, tatremamaṃśamādāyaiva cāntataḥ pasvataḥ prāmāṇyasamarthanapravṛtteḥ, tatra doṣābhāvādevādāvaprāmāṇyānutpatteḥ /
tata eva cāprāmāṇyapramityasaṃbhavāt, svata eva ca prāmāṇyapramiterabādhācca ityucyate, iti //
