etena tadvyāpakarahitatvāditi sāmānyopasaṃhārasyāsiddhatvamuktaṃ veditavyam /
nahi yadvyāvṛttiryadabhāve 'nvayavyatirekābhyāmupasaṃhartumaśakyā, tattasya vyāpakaṃ nāmeti /

kiṃ na dṛṣṭaṃ kāryaṃ kāraṇamātre aṅkuro bīje tadviśeṣo dhānye tadviśeṣaḥśālau tadviśeṣaḥ kalame ityādi bahulaṃ loke? kva vā dṛṣṭamaṇudravyārabhyaṃ dravyam, nityarūpādyārabdhaṃ rūpādi? tathāpi sāmānyavyāpteravirodhātsiddhyatyeva /
avaśyañcaitadevamaṅgīkartavyam; anyathā kāryatvasyākasmikatvaprasaṅgāt /
[ku.5.608] syādetat- anvayayvatireki tāvadidaṃ kāryatvamiti paramārthaḥ /
tatrākāśādervipakṣāt kiṃ kartṛvyāvṛtteḥ kāryatvavyāvṛttiḥ āhosvitkāraṇamātravyāvṛtteriti sandihyate- tadasat- karturapi kāraṇatvāt /
kāraṇeṣu cānyatamavyatirekasyāpi kāryānutpattiṃ prati prayojakatvāt; anyathā kāraṇatvavyāghātāt, karaṇādiviśeṣavyatirekasandehaprasaṅgācca; kathaṃ hi niścīyate kimākāśāt kāraṇavyāvṛttyā
kāryatvavyāvṛttiḥ uta karaṇavyāvṛttyā; evaṃ kimupādānavyāvṛttyā kimasamavāyivyāvṛttyā, kiṃ nimittavyāvṛttyeti? kāryatvāt karaṇamupādānamasamavāyi nimittaṃ vā buddhyādiṣu na siddhyet /
kartuḥ kāraṇatve siddhe sarvametaducitam; tadeva tvasiddhamiti cet- kiṃ paṭādau kuvindādirakāraṇameva kartā? prastute vodāsīna eva sādhayitumupakrāntaḥ? tasmāt yatkiñcidetadapīti /
[ku.5.609] nanu kartā kāraṇānāmadhiṣṭātā sākṣādvā śarītavat, sādhyaparamparayā vā daṇḍādivat? tatra na pūrvaḥ, paramāṇvādīnāṃ śarīratvaprasaṅgāt /
na dvatīyaḥ, dvārābhāvāt /
na hi kasyacitsākṣādadhiṣṭeyasyābhāve paramparayādhiṣṭānaṃ sambhavati /
tadayaṃ pramāṇārthaḥ- paramāṇvādayaḥna sākṣāccetanādhiṣṭheyāḥ śarīretaratvāt, yatpunaḥ sākṣādadhiṣṭheyam, na tadevaṃ yathāsmaccharīramiti; nāpi paramparayādhiṣṭheyāḥ, svavyāpāre śarīrānapekṣatvāt svaceṣṭāyāmasmaccharīravat, vyatirekeṇa vā daṇḍādi udāharaṇam /
evañca (evaṃ) kṣityādi na cetanādhiṣṭhitahetukaṃ śarīretarahetukatvādityatipīḍayā satpratipakṣatvam /
apica paṭādau kuvindādeḥ kiṃ kārakādhiṣṭhānārthamapekṣā, teṣāmacetanānāṃ svato 'pravṛtteḥ? āho kārakatvena? na pūrvaḥ, teṣāṃ parameśvareṇaivādhiṣṭhānāt /
na hyasya jñānamicchā prayatno vā vemādīnna vyāpnotīti sambhavati /
na cādhiṣṭhitānāmadhiṣṭhātrantarāpekṣā tadarthameva, tathāsatyanavasthānādevāviśeṣāt /
na dvitīyaḥ, adhiṣṭhātṛtvasyānaṅgatvaprasaṅge dṛṣṭāntasya sādhyavikalatvāpatteḥ /
na ca hetutvenaiva tasyāpekṣāstviti vācyam- evaṃ tarhi yat kāryaṃ tatsahetukamiti vyāptiḥ, na tu sakartṛkamiti /

kiñcānityaprayatnapūrvakatvaprayuktāṃ vyāptimupajīvat kāryatvaṃ na buddhimatpūrvakatvena svabhāvapratibaddham /
na hyanityaprayatno 'pi buddhyā śarīravat kāraṇatvenāpekṣyate, yena tannivṛttāvapyakāryā r(ya) buddhirna nivartata iti /

tathāhi- sākṣādadhiṣṭhātari sādhye paramāṇvādīnāṃ śarīratvaprasaṅga iti kimidaṃ śarīratvam, yat prasajyate? yadi sākṣātprayatnavadadhiṣṭheyatvam, tadiṣyata eva /
na ca tato 'nyat prasañjakamapi /
athendriyāśrayatvam?tanna, tadavacchinnajñānajananadvāreṇendriyāṇāmupayogāt /
anavacchinne prayatne nāyaṃ vidhiḥ, nityatvāt /

nahi nityajñānaṃ bhogarūpamabhogarūpaṃ vā, yatnamapekṣate; tasya kāraṇaviśeṣatvāt /
na ca nityasarvajñasya bhogasambhāvanāpi, viśeṣādarśanābhāve mithyājñānānavakāśe doṣānutpattau dharmādharmayorasattvāt /
tasmāt, sākṣātprayatnānadhiṣṭheyatvāt svavyāpāre tadanapekṣatvācceti dvayaṃ sādhyāviśiṣṭam /
anindriyāśrayatvādabhogāyatanatvāt svavyāpāre tadanapekṣatvācceti trayamapyanyathāsiddham /
abhogāyatanatvādanindriyāśrayo 'pi, bhoktṛkarmānupagrahādabhogāyatanamapi, sparśavadvegavaddravyāntara(235)nudyatvātta(236)danapekṣamapi syāt; acetanatvāccetanādhiṣṭhatamapi syāditi ko virodhaḥ? tathācasākṣātprayatnādhiṣṭhitetarajanyatvāditi sādhyasamaḥ /
indriyāśrayetarajanyatvāt bhogāyatanetarajanyatvāditi dvayamapyanyathāsiddham /
kāryajñānādyavapekṣatvāccharīretarajanyamapi syāt; acetanahetukatvāccetanādhiṣṭhituka(237)mapīti ko virodhaḥ? aprasiddhaviśeṣaṇaścapakṣaḥ /

yattvadhiṣṭhite kimadhiṣṭhāneneti- tatkiṃ kuvinda udvāryate, īśvaro vā, anavasthā vā'pādyate? na prathamaḥ, anvayavyatirekasiddhatvāt /
na dvatīyaḥ, paramāṇvadṛṣṭādhiṣṭhātṛtvasiddhau jñānādīnāṃ sarvaviṣayatve vemādyadhiṣṭhānasyāpi nyāyaprāptatvāt /
na tu tadadhiṣṭhānārthameveśvarasiddhiḥ /
na tṛtīyaḥ, tasmin pramāṇābhāvāt /
tathāpyekādhiṣṭhitamaparaḥ kimarthamadhitiṣṭhatīti praśne kimuttaramiti cet- hetupraśno 'yam, prayojanapraśno vā? nādyaḥ, īśvarādhiṣṭhānasya nityatvāt /
kuvindādyadhiṣṭhānasya svahetvadhīnatvāt /
na dvitīyaḥ, kāryaniṣpādanena bhogasiddheḥ spaṣṭatvāt /
ekādhiṣṭhānenaiva kāryaṃ syāditi cet- syādeva /
tathāpi na sambhede 'nyataravaiyarthyam /
parimāṇaṃ prati saṅkhyāparimāṇapracayavat pratyekaṃ
sāmarthyopalabdhau sambhūyakāritvopapatteḥ /
asti tatra vaijātyamiti cet- ihāpi kiñcidbhaviṣyatīti /
na cākurvataḥ kulālādeḥ kāyasaṅkṣobhādisādhyo bhogaḥsiddhyediti tadarthamasya kartṛtvamīśvaro 'numanyate, tadarthamātratvādaiśvaryasyeti /
[ku.5.612] yatvanityaprayatnetyādi- bhavedapyevaṃ yadyanityaprayatnanivṛttāveva buddhirapi nivarteta; na tvetadasti; (238) udāsīnasya prayatnābhāve 'pi buddhisadbhāvāt /
hetubhūtā buddhirnivattate ithi cenna- udāsīnabuddherapi saṃskāraṃ prati hetutvāt /
kārakaviṣayā buddhirnivartate iti cenna- udāsīnasyāpi kārakaboddhṛtvāt /
na hi ghaṭādikamakurvantaścakrādikaṃ nekṣāmahe /
hetubhūtā kārakabuddhirnivartate iti cenna- (cakrā(239)dibuddherapi saṃskāraṃ prati hetutvāt /
kārakaphalahetubhūtā kārakabuddhirnivartata iti cenna-) ayatamānasyāpi duḥkhahetubhūtāyā api taddhetukaṇṭakasparśabuddherbhāvāt (240) /
cikīrṣāhetubhūto 'nubhavo nivartata iti cenna- kenacinnimittenākurvato 'pi cikīrṣātaddhetubuddhisambhavātat /

tatra tasyāprayojakatvāditi buddhimatpūrvakatva(miti)sādhyapakṣe parīhāraḥ /
sakartṛkamiti prayatnapradhānapakṣe śaṅkaiva nāsti; tasyaiva tatrānupādhitvāt /

tadālīḍhasya hi tadutpattiniścaye dṛśyamadṛśyaṃ vā sarvameva tajjātīyaṃ tadutpattimattayā niścitaṃ bhavati, yathā sparśarūparasagandhānāmuttarottaranimittatāyāṃ tava; asmākañcātīndriyasamavāyādisiddhau /

jīvata iti cenna- netraspandādeścetanādhiṣṭhānābhyupagamaprasaṅgāt /
sparśavaddravyāntarāprayoge satīti cenna- jvalanapavanādau tathābhāvābhyupagamāpatteḥ /
śarīrasya sparśavaddravyāntarāprayuktasyeti cenna- ceṣṭayaiva śarīrasyalakṣyamāṇatvāt /
[ku.5.621] sāmānyaviśeṣaśceṣṭātvam, yata unnīyate prayatnapūrvikeyaṃ kriyeti cenna- kriyāmātreṇaiva tadunnayanāt /
bhoktṛbuddhimatpūrvakatvaṃ yata iti cet- tarhi tadviśrāntatvameva tasya /

apica asmatpadaṃ lokavadvede 'pi prayujyate /
tasya ca loke nācetaneṣvanyatamadarthaḥ, tatra sarvathaivāprayogāt /
nāpyātmamātramarthaḥ; parātmanyapi prayogaprasaṅgāt /
apitu yastaṃ svātantryeṇoccārayati, tamevāha; tathaivānvayavyatirekābhyāmavasāyāt /
tato lokavyutpattimanatikramya vede 'pyanena svaprayoktaiva vaktavyaḥ /

na ca yo yadoccārayati vaidikamahaṃ śabdam, sa eva tadā tasyārtha iti yuktam /

evamanye 'pi yaḥ kaḥ sa ityādi śabdā draṣṭavyāḥ, teṣāṃ buddhyupakramapraśnaparāmarśādyupahitamaryādatvāt; tasya ca vaktṛdharmatvāt /
buddhyapakramo hi prakṛtatvam, jijñāsā'viṣkaraṇañca praśnaḥ, pratisandhānañca parāmarśa iti /

tasmād yasya jñānaṃ prayatnajananīmicchāṃ prasūte, sorthaviśeṣastajjñāpako vār'thaviśeṣo vidhiḥ preraṇā pravartanā niyuktirniyoga upadeśa ityanarthāntaramiti sthite vicāryate- sa hi kartṛdharmo vā syāt, karmadharmo vā, karaṇadharmo vā niyoktṛdharmo veti /

kiṃ karoti? pacati, pākaṃ karotītyartha ityādidarśanāt /

ato vivaraṇamapi tāvanmātraparamiti cet /
bhavedapyevam, yadi pākeneti vivṛṇuyāt /

dhātvarthasyaiva pākamiti sādhyatvena nirdeśāt /
tatastaṃ pratyeva kiñcidanukūlatāpannaṃ pratyayenābhidhānīyamiti yuktam /

tathāca samudite pravṛttaṃ padaṃ tadekadeśe 'pi prayujyate, viśuddhimātraṃ puraskṛtya brāhmaṇe śrotriyapadavat /
anyathāpi madhyamottamapuruṣagāminaḥ pratyayāḥ, prathame puruṣe jānāti icchati prayatate adhyavasyati śete saṃśete ityādayaśca gauṇārthā evācetaneṣu /
na ca vṛttyantareṇāpi prayogasambhave śaktikalpanā yuktā; anyāyaścānekārthatvamiti sthiteḥ /
ata evānubhavo 'pi, yāvaduktaṃ bhavati pākānukūlavartamānaprayatnavān, tāvaduktaṃ bhavati pacatīti /
evaṃ tathābhūtātivṛttaprayatno 'pākṣīditi /
evaṃ tathābhūtabhāviprayatnaḥ pakṣyatīti /

asti hi kāñcit kriyāmuddiśya pravartamānānāṃ kārakāṇāmavāntaravyāpārayogaḥ, natvavāntaravyāpārārthameva teṣāṃ pravṛttiriti cet- tarhi tadapekṣayaiva kartṛkarmādivyavahāraviśeṣaniyame kiṃ kāraṇamiti cintyatām /
svātantryāditi cet- nanu tadeva kimanyat prayatnādisamavāyāditi vivicyābhidhīyatāmiti /
tasmāt sarvatra samānavyāpāra evākhyātārthaḥ /
[ku.5.654] tathāpi phalānuguṇataivāstu pratyayasya pravṛttinimittam; prayatnastvākṣepato lapsyate iti cenna- bhāvanaiva hi yatnātmā sarvatrākhyātagocaraḥ /

anyathā pāka ityādāvapi bhāvanānubhavaprasaṅgāt /
nāpi caitra ityādinā padāntareṇa; prakṛtipratyayayorubhayorapyakārakārthatvāt /
odanamityādeḥ kārakapadatvāt tasya ca kriyopahitatvāttenābhidhānamākṣepo vā /
kathamanyathā odanamityukte kiṃ bhuṅkte pacati veti viśeṣākāṅkṣeti cet- na- pacatītyukte kimodanaṃ temanaṃ veti viśeṣākāṅkṣādarśanāt /
sā cākṣepābhidhānayoranyataramantareṇa na syāt /
tasyāṃ daśāyāṃ na cedākṣepaḥ, nūnamabhidhānameveti /
[ku.5.655] syādetat- abhidhīyatāṃ tarhi kartāpi /
tadanabhidhāne hi saṅkhyeyamātramākṣipya saṅkhyā kathaṃ kartāramanviyāt, na tu karmādikamapi /
śākasūpau pacati śākasūpaudanān pacatītyādau virodhanirastā saṅkhyā caitra iti kartāramaviruddhamanugacchatīti cet- caitra odanaṃ pacatītyatrakā gatiḥ /
ekatra nirṇītaḥ śāstrārtho 'paratrāpi tathā, yavavarāhādivaditi cenna- pacyate ityādāvapi tathābhāvaprasaṅgāt /
caitrābhyāṃ caitrairiti virodhanirastā sūpa ityaviruddhaṃ karma samanukrāmatīti cet /
caitramaitrābhyāṃ pākasūpau pacyete ityatra kā gatiḥ /
anyatra nirṇītenārthena vyavahāra iti cenna- pacatītyādāvapi tathābhāvaprasaṅgāt /
tatra pūrvaka eva nirṇayaḥ, pacyate ityatratvapara iti cenna- viśeṣābhāvāt /
ātmanepadaparasmaipadābhyāṃ viśeṣa iti cenna- pacyate pacate pakṣyate ityādau viplavaprasaṅgāditi /
[ku.5.656] dṛśyate ca samānapratyayābhihitenānvayaḥsaṅkhyāyāḥ /
tad yathā, bhūyate supyate ityādau /

hi tatra kartrā karmaṇā vānyenaiva vā kenacidanvayaḥ, kintu bhāvenaiva /

"śeṣāt kartari parasmaipadam" (a.1-3-78), "kartari śap" (a.3-1-68) ityanuśāsanabalādbhāvakartārau pratyayavācyau, tatastadabhihitā saṅkhyāpi tābhyāmanvīyate; yastu pratyayo na tatrotpannastadabhihitā saṅkhyā tenaiva nyāyena karmaiva samāśrayediti niyamopapatteḥ tasmānmatikardamamapahāya yathānuśāsanameva gṛhyate iti prāptam /

na hi viśeṣyeṇa tadanvaye viśeṣaṇopādānamarthavadbhavet, tanniṣedhenaiva viśeṣaṇaniṣedhopalabdheḥ /

samānapratyayopāttabhāvanākṣiptānvayopapattau bādhakaṃ vinā sannihitatyāgena vyavahitaparigrahasya gurutvāt /
bhāvanāyāśca sāmānyākṣepe 'pi sākāṅkṣaparityāge nirākāṅkṣānvayānupapatteḥ /
nahyanyatarākāṅkṣā anvayahetuḥ apitūbhayākāṅkṣā /

vyajyatāṃ tarhi tṛtīyayā caitreṇeti, evaṃ devadattaḥ kriyate kaṭamiti vyajyatāṃ dvitīyayeti cet- na- aprayogāt /
nahyanāptenāpyevaṃ prāyāṇi prayujyante /
lakṣaṇāvirodhena kuta etadeveti cet- lokasyāparyanuyojyatvāt /
na hi gārgikayeti padaṃ sādhviti ślāghābhidhāyipadasannidhimanapekṣya prayujyate /
tasya tadupādhinaiva vihitatvāditi cet- etadeva kutaḥ? loke tathaiva prayogadarśanāditi cet- tulyam /
karotītyādi karmavibhaktisamabhivyāhāreṇaiva prayujyate, kriyate iti kartṛvibhaktisamabhavyāhāreṇaiveti kimatra kriyatām /

odanakāmastvaṃ pākacikīrṣāvānityato 'pi pravṛttyāpatteśca (tteḥ) apica saṅkalpajñānādyadi prayatno jāyeta, tathāpi saṅkalpasya kuto janma kimarthañca? saṅkalpajñānādeva, prayatnārthañceti cet- nanvicchāviśeṣaḥ saṅkalpaḥ, sa tāvatsukhe svabhāvataḥ, tatsādhane caupādhikaḥ, saṅkalpaviṣayastu katham? tatsādhanatvādeveti cet- tarhi tatsādhanatvājñānāt, na tu saṅkalpasvarūpajñānādbhavitumarhatīti /
anyatheṣṭasādhanatājñānamapyanarthakamāpadyeta /
tasmāt, saṅkalpaḥ pravartaka ityabhyupeyate, kintu sattāmātreṇa, na tu jñāta iti nāsau vidhiḥ /

tatrobhayorapi pratīyamānatvena sandehe kalpanāgauravapuraskāreṇa pṛthivītva eva saṅgativiśrānterupapatteḥ /
na tvatrāpūrvatvapratītiḥ /
[ku.5.664] syādetat- kāryatvamupalakṣaṇīkṛtya tāvadeṣā liṅ pravṛttā /
tadupalakṣitaśca yāgo vā yatno vānyo vā śabdetarapramāṇagocaro nādhikāriviśeṣaṇasvargasādhanasamarthaḥ /
na cākāmyaphale kāmī niyoktuṃ śakyate /
tato 'nyadevālaukikaṃ kiñcidanenopalakṣyate, yo liṅādipravṛttigocara iti kimanupapannimiti cet- na- (264) upalakṣaṇaṃ hi smaraṇamanumānaṃ vā /
ubhayamapyanavagatasambandhenāśakyam /
na hi saṃskāravanmanovadadṛṣṭavadvā kāryatvamapūrvatvamupalakṣayati,jñānāpekṣaṇāt /
tato hastīva hastipakam, dhūma iva dhūmadhvajam, tatsambandhajñānādupalakṣayet, natvanyathā /
tathāca nyāyasampādanāpyaraṇyeruditam /
na hi yuktisahasrairapi avidite saṅgatigraho 'viditasaṅgatirvā śabdaḥ pravartate iti /
etena bhedāgrahāt kriyākārye vyutpattiriti nirastam, na hyajñāte bhedāgraho vyavahārāṅgam, atiprasaṅgāt /
kiñcāpūrvatve pravṛttinimitte kalpyamāne laukikī liṅanarthikā prasajyeta /

tadayaṃ vyutpitsuryajjñānāt prayatnajananīmicchāmavāptavān, tajjñānameva liṅśrāviṇaḥ pravṛttikāraṇamanuminoti /
tataśca kartavyataikārthasamavāyinī iṣṭasādhanatāliṅārtha ityavadhārayati /
na ca vācyam evañcet varaṃ kartavyataivāstu, avaśyābhyupagamanīyatvāt; kṛtamiṣṭasādhanatayeti- yathā hi neṣṭasādhanatāmātraṃ pratītya pravartate, asādhyeṣu vyabhicārāt- tathā prayatnaviṣayasamavāyinīmiṣṭasādhanatāmadhigamyādhikārī pravartate ityanubhavaḥ /

[ku.5.671] karaṇasyeṣṭasādhanatābhidhāne jyotiṣṭomeneti tṛtīyayā na bhavitavyamiti tu deśyamavaiyākaraṇasyāvadhīraṇīyameva /

[ku.5.674] tathāhi- agnikāmo dāruṇī mathnīyāditi śrutvā kuta ityukte vaktāro vadanti, yatastanmanthanādagnirarasya sidhyatīti /
(taratimṛtyuṃ?) tarati brahmahatyāṃ yo 'śvamedhena yajate ityādāviṣṭābhyupāyatāyāmevāvagatāyāmanumimate tāntrikāḥ yat, "aśvamedhena yajeta mṛtyubrahmahatyātaraṇakāma" ityādividhim; nindayā ca niṣedham; tadyathā- "andhaṃ tamaḥ praviśanti ye ke cātmahano janāḥ" ityataḥ nātmānaṃ hanyāditi /
kuryyāḥ kuryyāmityatra vidhivihitaiva liṅ neṣṭābhyupāyatāmāha; kintu vaktṛsaṅkalpam /
nahīṣṭābhyupāyo mamāyamiti kuryāmitipadārthaḥ, kintutatpratipatteranantaraṃ yo 'sya saṅkalpaḥ kuryāmiti, sa eva /
sarvatra cānyatra vakturevecchābhidhīyate liṅetyavadhṛtam /
tathāhyājñādhyeṣaṇānujñāsampraśnaprārthanāśaṃsā liṅinānyaccakāsti /
yāṃ vakturicchāmananuvidadhānastatkṣobhādbibheti, sā ājñā /
yā tu śrotuḥ pūjāsaṃmānavyañjikā, sā adhyeṣaṇā /
vāraṇābhāvavyañjikā anujñā /
abhidhānaprayojanā sampraśnaḥ /
lobhecchā prārthanā /
śubhāśaṃsanamāśīriti /
[ku.5.675] na ca vidhivikalpeṣu niṣedha upapadyate /
tathāhi- yadābhidhā vidhiḥ, tadā, na hanyāt- hananabhāvanā nābhidhīyata iti vākyārtho vyāghātānnirastaḥ /
yadā kālatrayāparāmṛṣṭā bhāvanā, tadā neti sambandhe 'tyantābhāvo mithyā /
yadā kāryam, tadā, na hanyāt- na hananaṃ kāryamityanubhavaviruddham; kriyata eva yataḥ /
na hananena kāryam-
hananakāraṇakaṃ kāryaṃ nāstītyartha ityapi nāsti /
duḥkhanivṛttisukhāptyoranyatarasya tatra sadbhāvāt /
[ku.5.676] hananakāraṇakamadṛṣṭaṃ (mapūrvam) nāstītyartha iti tu nirātaṅkaṃ dṛṣṭārthinaṃ pravartayedeveti sādhu śāstrārthaḥ /
ahananenāpūrvaṃ bhāvayediti tvaśakyaṃ kāraṇasyānāditvena kāryasyāpi tathābhāvaprasaṅgāt, bhāvanāyāśca tadaviṣayatvāt /
ahananasaṅkalpeneti yāvajjīvamavicchinnitatsaṅkalpaḥsyāt /
sakṛtkṛtvaivavā nivṛttiḥ; paścāddhanyādevāvirodhāt /
sampādito hyanena niyogārthaḥ /
"yāvadyāvaddhananasaṅkalpavān tāvattāvadviparītasaṅkalpenāpūrvaṃ bhāvayediti vākyārthaḥ, tathābhūtasyādhikāritvā'dityapi vārtam- tadaśruteḥ /
prasaktaṃ hi pratiṣidhyate,nāprasaktamiti cet- na vai kiñcidiha pratiṣidhyate; tadabhāvaḥ pratipādyate iti niṣedhārthaḥ; ahananasaṅkalpakaraṇakamapūrvaṃ (271) vākyārthaḥ /
kiñca na hanyāditi ahananenāpūrvasya kartavyatāpratyayo jāto vedāt; jātaśca hananakriyāyāṃ rāgāt /
niṣphalācca kāryādapekṣitaphalaṅgarīya iti nyāyena hanyādevetyaho vedavyākhyākauśalamāstikyābhimānino mīmāṃsakadurdurūṭasya (272) /
[ku.5.677] iṣṭasādhanatāpakṣe 'pi, na hanyāt- na hananabhāvanā iṣṭābhyupāya iti vākyārthaḥ /

tathāpi pratipādyate tāvaditi cenna- pāṣaṇḍāgamaniṣedhenānekāntāt /
nāsau pramāṇamiti cenna- arthaviparyayapratipādanāviśeṣe 'syāpi tathābhāvāt /
tātparyyataḥ prāmāṇyamiti cenna- vidhiniṣedhayorananyaparatvāt; na vidhau paraḥ śabdārtha iti vacanāt /
tathāpi niṣedhe tathā bhaviṣyatīti cenna- avinābhāvataduddeśapravṛttyorabhāvāt /
nāpyasurāvidyādivadasya naño virodhivacanatvam /

viṣaṃ na bhakṣayedityasya tu viṣabhakṣaṇagocarā pravṛttirmama neṣṭetyarthaḥ /
tato 'pi śrotānuminoti, nūnaṃ viṣabhakṣaṇabhāvanā aniṣṭasādhanam; yadviṣayo hi prayatnaḥ karturabhimatasādhakopyāptena neṣyate, sa tato 'dhikatarānarthahetuḥ, tathā tenāvagataśca; yathā mamai(yai?)va putrādeḥ krīḍā- kardamaviṣabhakṣaṇādiviṣaya iti vyāpteḥ /
[ku.5.679] laukika eva vākye 'yaṃ prakāraḥ kadācidbuddhimadhirohati, na tu vedikeṣu, teṣu puruṣasya nirastatvāditi cenna- nirāsahetorabhāvāt /
tadastitve 'pi pramāṇaṃ nāstīti cet- mā bhūdanyat; vidhireva tāvat garbha iva puṃyoge pramāṇaṃ śruti kumāryāḥ; kimatra kriyatām? liṅo vā laukikārthātikrame, " ya eva laukikāsta eva vaidikāsta eva caiṣāmarthā" iti viplaveta /
tathāca jabagaḍadaśādivadanarthakatvaprasaṅga iti bhava susthaḥ /

kāṭhakaṃ kālāpakamityādayo hi samākhyāviśeṣāḥ śākhāviśeṣāṇāmanusmaryante /
te ca na pravacanamātranibandhanāḥ, pravaktṝṇāmanantatvāt /
nāpi prakṛṣṭavacananimittāḥ; upādhyāyebhyo 'pi prakarṣe pratyutānyathākaraṇadoṣāt /
tatpāṭhānukaraṇe ca prakarṣābhāvāt /
kati cānādau saṃsāre prakṛṣṭāḥ pravaktāra iti ko niyāmaka iti /
nāpyādyasya vaktuḥ samākhyeti yuktam; bhavadbhistadanabhyupagamāt /
abhyupagame vā sa evāsmākaṃ vedakāra iti,vṛthā vipratipattiḥ /

brāhmaṇatve satyavāntarajātibhedā eva kaṭhatvādayaḥ /
tadadhyeyā tadanuṣṭheyārthā ca śākhā tatsamākhyayā vpapadiśyate iti kimanupapannam- na- kṣatriyāderapi tatraivādhikārāt /
na ca yo brāhmaṇasya viśeṣaḥ, sa kṣatriyādau sambhavati /
na ca kṣatriyāderanyo veda ityasti /
na ca kaṭhāḥ kāṭhakamevādhīyate, tadarthamevānutiṣṭhantīti niyamaḥ; śākhāsañcārasyāpi prāyaśo darśanāt /
prāgevaṃ (vāyaṃ) niyama āsīt; idānīmayaṃ viplavate iti cet- viplava eva tarhi sarvadā, kaṭhādyavāntarajātiviplavādityagatireveyam /
tasmādādyapravaktṛvacananimitta evāyaṃ samākhyāviśeṣasambandha ityeva sādhyiti //

nacāropitaṃ tatrānubhavatvam, abādhanāt /
ananubhūtasyāpi svaśiracchedanāderavabhāsanācca /
smṛtiviparyāso 'sāviti cet- yadi smṛtiviṣaye viparyāsa ityarthaḥ, tadānumanyāmahe /
atha smṛtāvevānubhavatvaviparyāsaḥ iti; tadā prāgeva nirastaḥ /
na ca sambhavatyapi /
na hyanyenākāreṇādhyavasito 'nyena jñānāvacchedakatayādhyavasīyate /
tathāca sa ghaṭa ityutpannāyāṃ smṛtau bhrāmyatastaṃ ghaṭamanubhavāmīti syāt, na tvimaṃ ghaṭamiti /
na hyayaṃ ghaṭa iti smṛterākāraḥ /
tasmādanubhava evāsau svīkartavyaḥ /
[ku.5.687] asti ca svapnānubhavasyāpi kasyacit satyatvam, saṃvādāt /
tacca kākatālīyamapi na nirnimittam; sarvasvapnajñānānāmapi tathātvaprasaṅgāt /
hetuścātra dharma eva /
sa ca karmajavat yogajo 'pi yogavidheravaseyaḥ; karmayogavidhyostulyayogakṣematvāt /
tasmāt yogināmanubhavo dharmajatvāt pramā, sākṣātkāritvāt pratyakṣaphalam; dharmānanugṛhītabhāvanāmātraprabhavastu na prameti vibhāga iti /
atastatsāmagrīviraho 'siddhaḥ /
[ku.5.688] tathāpi vipakṣe kiṃ bādhakamiti cet- "dve brahmaṇī veditavye" ityādi yogavidhivaiyarthyaprasaṅgaḥ, aśakyānuṣṭhānopāyopadeśakatvāt /
na cāsākṣātkārijñānavidhānametat; arthajñānāvadhinādhyayanavidhinaiva tasya gatārthatvāditi /
etena paramāṇvādayo vyākhyātā iti /
[ku.5.689] tadenamevambhūtamadhikṛtya śrūyate- "na draṣṭurdṛṣṭerviparilopo vidyate" iti, "ekamevādvitīya'miti, "paśyatyacakṣuḥ sa śṛṇotyakarṇa" iti, "dve brahmaṇī veditavye parañcāparameva ce'ti, "yajñena yajñamayajanta
devā" iti, (yajño (275) vai devā iti) "yajño vai viṣṇu'ratyādi /
smaryate ca- (gī.) "sarvadharmān parityajya māmekaṃ śaraṇaṃ vraja" iti, "madarthaṃ karma kaunteya muktasaṅgaḥsamācara" iti, "yajñārthāt karmaṇo 'nyatra loko 'yaṃ karmabandhana" iti, "yajñāyācarataḥ karma samagraṃ pravilīyate" ityādi /
anuśiṣyate ca sāṅkhyapravacane īśvarapraṇidhānam /
tamimaṃ jyotiṣṭomādibhiriṣṭaiḥ, prāsādādinā pūrtena,śītātapasahanādinā tapasā, ahiṃsādibhiryamaiḥ, śaucasantoṣādibhirniyamaiḥ, āsana(276)prāṇāyāmādinā yogena maharṣayo 'pi vividiṣanti /
tasmin jñāte sarvamidaṃ jñātaṃ bhavatītyevaṃ vijñāya śrutvaikatānastatparo bhavet /
yattedaṃ gīyate- "manmanā bhava madbhakto madyājī māṃ namaskuru /
māmevaiṣyasi yuktvaivamātmānaṃ matparāyaṇaḥ" /
"bhoktāraṃ yajñatapasāṃ sarvalokamaheśvaram /
suhṛdaṃ sarvabhūtānāṃ jñātvā māṃ śāntimṛcchati" iti /
[ku.5.690] ityevaṃ śrutinītisamplavajalairbhūyobhirākṣālite /
yeṣāṃ nāspadamādadhāsi hṛdaye te śaulasārāśayāḥ (277) //
kint.u prastutavipratīpavidhayo 'pyuccairbhavaccintakāḥ /
kāle kāruṇika! tvayaiva kṛpayā te bhāvanīyā (278) narāḥ //18 //
