iha tu tattvanirṇayaḥ, jalpe svaśaktiparāśaktikhyāpanam, vitaṇḍāyāṃ parāśaktimātraprakhyāpanaṃ ca phalāni vivakṣitāni /
tāni ca na kathāmātrasādhyānīti viśeṣata evoddeśaḥ /
tatra yaugikaṃ kathāśabdamupādāyānavasaradusthatayā bhāṣyam ākṣipya vārttikena samādhatte---tadayuktamityādinā /
nāyaṃ kathāśabdo yogamātrānurodhī, api tu satyeva tasmin rūḍhiniyata iti /
anavasaradoṣaṃ pariharannāha---api tviti /
nanu pūrvapakṣottarapakṣabalābalanirūpaṇaṃ vicāraḥ, sa ca na kathāyā āśrayaḥ kiṃ tu viṣaya ityata āha---vicāraviṣayeti /

nāpi pratipakṣasādhanamanivartya prathamasya sādhanatvāvasthitiḥ, śaṅkitapratipakṣatvāt /
yadi tu pratipakṣasādhanamanirūpyaiva vijigīṣuvitaṇḍāvat tāvataiva vādinau kṛtinau, na tarhi tattvabubhūtsū /
evaṃ ca yadi vijigīṣuḥ, kathamapratibhādyanudbhāvanam /
na ca vijayatattvanirṇayābhyāṃ phalāntaramavaśiṣyate kathāyāḥ, yadarthaṃ vādavitaṇḍā /
anutpannasya hi tattvanirṇayasyotpādanam, utpannasya pālanam, pālitasya ca viniyogaḥ /
sa ca svayamabhyāsaḥ, kāruṇikatayā paravyutpādanam /
etacca sarvaṃ kathātrayaparyavasitam, nāpyekakathānirvāhyamiti //
nanvetāvatāpi na sāmānyalakṣaṇaṃ vibhāvitamityata āha---tathā ceti /
nānāpravaktṛkā mithaḥ karmatayā yuddhavadāliṅganavacca /
etena vākyasaṃdṛbdhirmahāvākyamuktaṃ syāt, mithaḥ karmatayā sākāṅkṣatvāt, vijayādyanekaprayojanavattvācceti /
vaktrośca praśabdena prakarṣo darśitaḥ /
sa ca kathārūpamahāvākyanirvāhakatvam /

sādhane ca tarkasya pramāṇāpekṣā, upālambhe tu kevalo 'pi samarthaḥ, pratitarkapratihatasyāsādhanatvāt /

tadgatākṣepastu uddeśa eva pramāṇatarkaśabdasya sādhanopālambhaśabdavat svavācakalakṣaṇayā vā, śabdāvāntaravyāpāratayā vā śabdapratipāditatayā vā samarthitaprāyaḥ /

aparādhapratipādanaṃ hyupālambhaḥ /
na ca acetano 'parādhyati, nāpi pratipādyate, kiṃ puruṣaḥ /
tadidamuktam---puruṣadharmopālambheti /
karmakaraṇayorhi pradhānavyāpāraḥ, phalamekameva /
taddvārā ca viṣayaḥ /
prakṛte karmakaraṇayorapi karmaiva /
iyāṃstu viśeṣaḥ, yat karmatvadaśāyāṃ śabdāderanityatvaṃ dharmo karmakaraṇayorapi karmaiva /
iyāṃstu viśeṣaḥ, yat karmatvadaśāyāṃ śabdāderanityatvaṃ dharmo jijñāsitatayā, viṣayatvadaśāyāṃ tu vastutayetyāśayavān yathāśrutavārttikānurodhena vyācaṣṭe---dharmīti /
anyathā tu viṣayaḥ śaktiviṣayaḥ śakyaṃ kāryamiti yāvadityevamapi sugamametat /
atra hi jalpe nigrahasthānaviniyogādityādibhāṣye na hiṃsyāt sarvabhūtāni /
itivad vāde sarvanigrahasthānapratiṣedhe agnīṣomīyaṃ paśumālabheta itivat siddhāntāviruddha ityādiviśeṣavidhirityarthaḥ /
sphuṭaḥ pratīyate /
vārtikakārastu rāgataḥ sarvapañcanakhabhakṣaṇaprāptivat upālambhagrahaṇāt sarvanigrahasthānaprāptau pañca pañcanakhā bhakṣyāḥ itivat parisaṃkhyānārthamuttarapadārambha iti vyākhyātavān /
tadetadatikuśalatayā mithaḥ avirodhayannāha---jalpa iti /
tathāpi niyamārthe ityasaṃgatam /
pākṣikavyavacchedaphalo hi niyamaḥ /
na cātrāpratibhādi pākṣikam, upālambhapadena nirāśaṅkameva pratipāditatvāt ityata āha---niyamaḥ parisaṃkhyeti /
ayamarthaḥ, yadyapi vidhiratyantamaprāptau niyamaḥ pākṣike sati /
tatra cānyatra ca prāptau parisaṃkhyeti kīrtyate //
iti bhedo darśitaḥ, tathāpyalpīyānayamiti manyamānena parisaṃkhyāyāmapi niyamapadaṃ prayujyate, itaravyavacchedalakṣaṇasya phalasyāviśiṣṭatvāditi /
iha vāde caturdhā nigrahasthānagatiḥ /
kiñcidasaṃbhāvanīyameva yathā, hāniḥ sannyāso nirarthakamarthāntaramavijñātārthamapārthakamiti ṣaṭkam /
kiñcit saṃbhavadapyanudbhāvyameva yathā, pratijñāntaraṃ hetvantaramajñānamapratibhā vikṣepo matānujñā paryanuyojyopekṣaṇamiti saptakam /
kiñcit tūdbhāvyamātraṃ yathā, virodho 'prāptakālaṃ nyūnamadhikaṃ punaruktamayathānubhāṣaṇamapasiddhānta iti saptakam /
kiñcicca kathāvasānikaṃ yathā, hetvābhāso niranuyojyānuyogaśceti dvayamiti /
tatra hānyādīnāmaśaktisaṃguhanaprakāratvāt, tattvabubhutsutayā ca vāde tadabhāvāt teṣāmasaṃbhavaḥ /
saṃbhavatāmanudbhāvane hetumāha---na khalviti /
kathāmaparyavasāyayatāmapyudbhāvane hetumāha---adhikaṃ tviti /
tattvapratipatteḥ sākṣād vyāghāto viparītapratipattiryathā, hetvābhāsānudbhāvane niranuyojyānuyogānudbhāvane ca pāramparyavyāghāto vyāsaṅgādīnā tatsāmagrīpratirodhaḥ /
tatrādhikānudbhāvane prathamo yadi na syāt, tathāpi dvitīyaḥ syādeva /
tathā hi, virodhe yogyatāvirahaḥ /
aprāptakāle ākāṅkṣāvirahaḥ /
nyūne ākāṅkṣitāsamabhivyāhāraḥ /
sa cānāsaktiviśeṣaḥ /

tasmādetadarthamidamudbhāvyamiti //
tadetat sarvamabhiprāyaṃ niyamayataḥ sūtrakārasya saṃmataṃ sūtrādeva ca labhyate /
vārttikakṛtā tu nyūnādicatuṣṭayamudāharaṇārthaṃ darśitam, na tu niyamaḥ kṛta iti vyājena darśayati---tathā ceti /
nanu vyatisaṅgo vyatihāraḥ /
sa ca sādhanopalambhavānityetāvataivokte gamyate /
tataḥ pramāṇatarkagrahaṇamatiricyata ityata āha---pūrvasminniti /
tathāpyasmin pakṣe kimasya prayojanamityata āha---sādhanopālambhaviśeṣaṇāya ceti /
anuvidheyastheyasabhyapuruṣavatī janatā sabhetyucyate /
tatrānuvidheyasya yathāśakti yathāniyamaṃ saṃmānāsaṃmānavyañjakaṃ karma /

tatra hi tattvabubhutsutayā svayamavātattvajñaḥ tattvajñāninamupāsīta /
stheyānāṃ tu vādasthānakathāviśeṣavyavasthāpanaṃ pūrvottaravādasthāpanaṃ vivadamānayorguṇadoṣāvadhāraṇaṃ bhagnaprativādiprabodhanaṃ loke niṣpannakathāphalapratipādanaṃ ca karmāṇi /
etadarthaṃ ca tatra prāśnikopayogo yad vādinau kāraṇagraheṇa evaṃ kartumaśaktau /
na caivaṃ vāde /
tatra tayoreva vītarāgatayā śaktatvādityāśayavānāha---na vāde prāśnikānāmiti /
tat kiṃ parivarjanameva tatra teṣām? netyāha---daivāgatānāṃ tviti /
savādenaprāmādikakathābhāsaśaṅkāmapanetuṃ natūktakarmāṇi kārayitumiti bhāvaḥ //1 //

yathā hi vāde svasādhanasthitau parasādhananivṛttau ca tattvanirṇayo na viparyaye, tathā jalpe 'pi svasādhanasthitau parasādhananivṛttau ca vijayo viparyaye bhaṅgaḥ /
ubhayasthitinivṛttyoḥ pariṣadeva vijayate /
tadayaṃ jalprapavṛttikramaḥ vādini sādhanamātraṃ prayujya saṃkṣepato vistarato vā ābhāsān uddhṛtya virate sati ucyamānagrāhyanigrahāprāptau ābhāsabahiruktagrāhyanigrahālābhe tadvacanārthamavagamyānūdya dūṣayitvā prativādīsvapakṣe sthāpanāṃ prayuñjīta /
aprayuñjānastu dūṣitaparapakṣo 'pi navijayī /
ślādhyastu syādātmānamarakṣan paraghātīva vīraḥ /
tasminnapyevaṃ virate sati anuktocyamānagrāhyanigrahālābhe tadvavacanamavagamyānūdya dūṣaṇāṅgaṃ prati dūṣyābhāsabahiruktagrāhyanigrahālābheda prathamavādī sthāpanāṃśaṃ dūṣayet /
adūṣayaṃsatu rakṣitasvapakṣo 'pi na vijayī /
ślādhyastu syāt vañcitaparaprahāra iva tamapraharamāṇaḥ /
anuktocyamānagrāhyābhāsabahiruktagrāhyanigrahalābhe tu tāvataiva kathāviratirna sādhanavicārāvakārśaḥ /
śarasandhānasamaya eva yo mūrcchitaḥ tadvāṇavāraṇatatpraharaṇānuṣṭhānavad viphalatvāt /
tatrānuktagrāhyamapratibhādi /
ucyamānagrāhyamaprāptakālādi /
ābhāsabahiruktagrāhyaṃ pratijñāvirodhādi /
eṣvasatsu ābhāsacintā /
tataḥ punaḥ pratidūṣaṇoktau ābhāsabahiḥpratijñāhānyādi /
etacca pañcame prapañcanīyamiti //
yadyapi nigrahasthānapadenāviśeṣāt sarvaprāptau siddhāntāviruddhaḥ pañcāvayavopapanna iti padadvayātideśo mandaḥ, tathāpi gorbalīvardanyāyenāpi yathāśrutabhāṣyopapattau kṛtaṃ tadbhāṅgeneti manyamāno bhāṣyaṃ vārttikena samañjasayannāha---uktamātramityādi /
yadyapyaparādhasaṃgūhanārthaṃ pratijñāhānipratijñāntarapratijñāsaṃnyāsahetvantarārthāntaranirarthakāvijñātārthavikṣepāpasiddhāntānāmupādānaṃ saṃbhavati, tathāpi na sarvanigrahopādānasaṃbhavaḥ /
api ca pramādaskhalite 'pi chalādibhireva pratyavasthātumucitam, nigrahasthānāpekṣayā teṣāmanudbhaṭāparādhatvāt /
tasmādudbhāvyatayaivāmīṣāṃ sarveṣāmavatāraḥ /
tathā ca nāyuktatvamityabhiprāyavānāha---tat kimiti /
sādhusādhanopādāne ca vādinā kṛta ityupalakṣaṇam /
pareṇa sādhusādhanopādāne ca kṛta ityapi draṣṭavyam /
nanu bhāṣyaṃ dūṣayitvā kimadhikamamihitam? tenāpi tattvarakṣaṇārthatvapratipādanādityata āha---tadanena prakāreṇeti /
prakāre bhāṣyam asaṃgatam, na tu prayojane /
tatastadapyevameva neyamiti /
chalādivyutpādanaṃ prayojyatayeti śeṣaḥ //2 //

ekasya svapratyavekṣāśaktiraparasya parāghātanaipuṇaṃ nirūpyate /
kathamayaṃ viśeṣa iti cet? vādinorabhiprāyavaśādanuvidheyastheyānurodhāt veti na kiñcidetat dvitīyasādhanapraveśasatu dūṣaṇatayā na pratiṣidhyate /
api tu sthāpanātvena /
na cāyaṃ niyamaḥ, asiddhatvādudbhāvanenāpi kathāparyavasānāditi, samākhyānirvacanasāmarthyāt eva gamyata iti /
na caivamastviti vācyam, jalpe 'pi parapakṣāghātasya gatatvenātivyāpakatvāt /
mātragrahaṇāt tu tannivṛttiriti cet---na, tena sādhanānivṛtteḥ /

atra triṣoḍaśyāṃ vyāpakāvyāpakabhedena yā dviṣoḍaśī sā asiddhaviśeṣaṇāsiddhaviśeṣyā samarthaviśeṣaṇā samarthaviśeṣyasandigdhaviśeṣaṇasandigdhaviśeṣyabhedena vivakṣitā dvānavataṃ śataṃ bhavatīti /
saivāsiddhisandehayorvādiprativādisaṃbandhādaṣṭāviṃśataṃ śataṃ bhavet /
saivānyatarāsiddhyā vyadhikaraṇasamarthasandigdhaviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhedāt dvāvanataṃ śatamaparaṃ syāt /
saivomayānyatarāśrayāsiddhaviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyasaṃbandhādaparamaṣṭāviṃśataṃ śataṃ bhavet /
saivāśrayāsiddhaviśeṣaṇāvyadhikaraṇāsamarthasandigdhaviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyasaṃbandhādaparaṃ dvānavataṃ śatam /
saiva sandigdhavyadhikaraṇāsamarthasandigdhaviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyasaṃbandhādaparaṃ dvānavataṃ śatam /
iyamevāśrayāsiddhiprakṣepeṇāparaṃ dvānavataṃ śatam /
saiva sandigdhatāṃ parityajyānyathāsiddhimupādāyāparaṃ dvānavataṃ śatam /
iyamevāśrayāsiddhiprakṣepeṇāparaṃ dvānavataṃ śantam /
saivānyathāsiddhiṃ vihāya viruddhatāmupādāyāparaṃ dvānavataṃ śatam /

yasya hyavasaro nāsti, tasyārthakriyā prati vicārataḥ sattvaṃ nāstīti /
mandataraprayogastvasiddhaḥ, sati svakāle svayamevābhāvāt /
yastu svayameva nāsti, tasya deśakālāvasthāvirodhasāmarthānāṃ nāvakāśaḥ /
mandaprayogastu satpratipakṣaḥ, satoḥ kāladeśavattvayoravasthābhāvāt /
avasthābhāve 'virodhasāmarthyayoranavakāśāt /
sāvakāśaprayogastu viruddhaḥ, kāladeśāvasthāsu satīṣu virodhāt /

na cet tatsvabhāvakatvaṃ prayojanasahasreṇāpi nārambhaḥ /
svabhāvānuvidhāyīni hi prayojanāni /
na tu prayojanānuvidhāyinaḥ svabhāvāḥ /
pratyakṣabādhastu tadā syāt yadi tama evāpahnūyeta /
dravyatve pratyakṣasyājāgarukatvāt, nīlimaguṇaśālinaḥ pratīteḥ /
kathamevametaditi cetṛ---na, vastuto 'sya nīlatve 'cākṣuṣatvaprasaṅgāt /
ālokasahakāriṇa eva cakṣuṣaḥ tatra sāmarthyāvadhāraṇādityuktam /
śuklabhāsvaravirodhitāsāmyāt tu tathā vyavahāraḥ /
evaṃ tarhi raktādivyavahāro 'pi prasajyata iti cet---na, vyavahāre hi sati nimittānusmaraṇāt /
na tu nimittāmastītyeva vyavahāraḥ yathā śaṣayoḥ śavyavahāro gauḍānāṃ varṇatvanimittāviśeṣe 'pi na kādivyavahāraḥ /
adṛṣṭādisāmagrīviśeṣānniyamo nātrāpi daṇḍavāritaḥ iti /
tat kiṃ na kiñcidevac chāyetyata āha---tasmād bhābhāva evac chāyeti /
na ca vācyam, so 'pi kathamālokamantareṇa pratiyogismaraṇādhikaraṇagrahaṇavirahe vidhimukhena cākṣuṣo viṣaya iti /
yadgrahe hi yadapekṣaṃ cakṣustadabhāvagrahe 'pi tadapekṣameva /
evaṃ hi taditarasāmagrahīsākalyaṃ syāt /
tadihāpyālokābhāve tadālokāpekṣā syāt, yadyāloke 'pi tadapekṣā bhavet /

pratyuta virodha eva tasmin sati hi tadabhāva eva na syāt /

yathoddeśamiti---yathoddeśakramaṃ bhavatu lakṣaṇam, na tu lakṣaṇakramānatikrameṇa parīkṣā bhaviṣyati, prathamata eva vyatikramādityata āha---yathālakṣaṇaṃ yathāsvarūpamityartha iti /
nanvevaṃ sati prathamadvitīyasūtre tātparyāntareṇāvaṣṭabdhatvānna trividhaśāstrapravṛttyantarbhāvinī /
ārthyā vṛttyā prathamasūtrasya uddeśāntarbhāve 'pi dvitīyasūtramalagnakam asaṃgatikatvādityata āha---tasmāditi /
aupodghātikyā saṃgatyā prathamoddeśamaṅgatameva dvitoyasūtramarthāt /
śrutyā ca prayojanaparatayeti na prakaraṇāsaṃgatirityarthaḥ /
śeṣaṃ sūbodhamiti /
kīrttyata iti kīrtitam /
tathā ca yathāyogamabhisaṃbandha iti sukhabodhamityarthaḥ //
anabhyāsajñeyācchrutivivaragarbheṣu laghutaḥ sukhagrāhyānmandaiḥ kusumasukumārāt prathamataḥ /
manaḥ śrīmadvācaspativacanavinyāsavisarāt
trasatyadyāpyetanmuhuriva muhurnirvṛtamapi // 20 //
