tāṃstathābhūtānanusaṃdadhatastadbalabhāvī mānasa eva sthūlavikalpo vijṛmbhate, dūrādiva taruṣu nirantareṣu samanubhūyamāneṣu vanamiti matiḥ /
ataḥ sthavīyasāṃ dravyāṇāmāśrayatvenābhimatānāmayogājjātirapi tadāśritā nābhyupagamamarhati /
api ca jātirapi nendriyajñānaviṣayā pratīyate, tasyā nityatvenābhyupagamāt /
nahi nityaṃ kasmaicitkāryāya paryāptam; taddhi na śaktasvabhāvam, nityaṃ kāryodayaprasaṅgāt /
aśaktasvabhāvaṃ tu nityatvādavicikitsayāśaktikaṃ nityaṃ na kiñcit kuryāt /
na cājanakamindiranayajñānaviṣayatāmanubhavati /
yo hi viṣayaḥ svasyānvayavyatirekajñānamanukārayati, sa pratyakṣaḥ /
kiñca samunmiṣitacakṣuṣaścirāya viṣayāntarānusandhānavyāvṛttacittasya purovartinīṃ svastimatīṃ kālākṣīṃ vā sākṣātkurvāṇasyeva na jātiraparāvabhāsate /
anyacca na jātirasau piṇḍaiḥ sahotpadyate, vinaśyati vā /

tatra nābhinnā; tathābhāve vyaktyā sahotpāde vināśe vā svarūpahāniprasaṅga iti purastādupanyastam /
vyaktimātrāṅgīkāre ca ko 'smatpakṣasya asya ca bheda ityapi cintayāntaḥ sīdantu bhavantaḥ /
ato vyaktimātramevava tattvamiti vadatāṃ sāhāyyakamevācaritamanatirekiṇīṃ jātimurarīkurvāṇaiḥ /
bhinnatve 'pi piṇḍagrahaṇamantareṇa grahaṇāpattiḥ /
ubhayapratītau ca sambandhapratītisamāpattiḥ60 /

kaḥ khalu iha gavi gotvamiti matimabhyupagacchet, anyatra nirastatrapāyantraṇāt bhavataḥ /
bhinnatve ca vṛttiprakāro durnirūpa eva---kiṃ vyāsaṅginī vṛttiḥ ? uta pratyekaparisamāptimatīti /
ekatra ca parisamāptāvanyatra na varteteti punarapi svarūpahāniprasaṅgaḥ /
vyāsaṅgo 'pi kālatrayavartinīṣu vyaktiṣvanupapanna eva /
pratyekañca gauḥ gauriti pratyayo vikalpamātramityaṅgīkṛtaṃ syāt /
na cobhayarūpatā, virodhāt /
na copalambhabalena virodha eva nāstīti caturasram, tathāvidhasyopalambhasyaivāsambhāvanīyatvāt /
abhinnākārabuddhibodhyaṃ hi vastvabhinnamiti laukikāḥ manyante, vilakṣaṇākārabodhaviṣayaśca bhinnamiti /
tatra yadi vilakṣaṇākārapratītisamaye dve vastunī vilakṣaṇenākāreṇāvabhātastadābhedapratītidaśāyāmeka ākāro 'nubhavanīyaḥ---sa jātibhāgasya ? tatraikasya dviravabhāso 'yaṃ syānna tu jātijātimatorabhedāvabhāsaḥ /
atha---vilakṣaṇāvapyākārau tādātmyenāvasīyete---iti matam /
tatrāpi paryanuyojanīyaḥ---kimidaṃ tādātmyaṃ nāmeti ? yadyekākārateti brūyāt; tarhi pūrvoktameva dūṣaṇamātmasātkṛtam /
śabdayoḥ sāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ tādātmyamiti cet ? 61ayuktamidaṃ, gaurvāhīka ityādāvatādātmye 'pi sāmānādhikaraṇyadarśanāt /
upacārastatreti cet /
atrāpi bhinnajātivādina upacārameva manyante /
vayantu vivakṣāmātraparatāntrāḥ śabdā na vastuvyavasthāpanāyeśata iti sarvatra manyāmahe /
kathaṃ tarhi gaurgauriti nānābhūtāsu vyaktiṣu buddhiranuvṛttamākāramullikhantī samupajāyate ? tenāsyā eva buddherdraḍhimnaḥ kāraṇamanumāsyāmahe /
asti tadviśeṣaṇaṃ yaduparāgavaśeneyaṃ bhinneṣvabhinnākārānusandhāyinī dhīrudīyata iti /
tadapi na jātisādhanasamartham /
kāryabhūtā hi buddhireṣā kāraṇamākṣipantī yadanantaramevopajāyate tadeva kāraṇaṃ kalpayati, na punarapratītamaparamapi kiñcidupasthāpayati /
sā ceyaṃ svalakṣaṇaviṣayadarśanasamanantarabhāvinīti tā eva vyaktayaḥ svanirbhāsā buddhīrupajanayya tanmukhena tāmekākārānubhāsinīṃ dhiyamāvirbhāvayanti /
nitāntabhedavatīnāṃ ca vyaktīnāṃ kāsāṃcideṣa mahimā na sarvāsāmiti kimanupapannam /
yathā hyatyantabhinnā api cakṣurālokamanassaṃyogāḥ ekasāmagrīsamupanipatitā ekavijñānodayalakṣaṇaṃ kāryamārabhante, tathā vyaktayo 'pi kiṃ nārabhanta iti nedaṃ pratipattikaṭhinam /
sā ceyaṃ svākāreṇābhedenātyantikabhedayoginīnāmapi vyaktīnāṃ bhedaṃ samvṛṇotīti saṃvṛtirityanugīyate /
eṣā ca manīṣā na svalakṣaṇaṃ viṣayīkaroti, tasya viśadāvabhāsitvāt, asyāścābhilāpasaṃsargayogyārthapratibhāsatvāt /
abhilāpānāñca viśadākāramavabhāsitumaśakteḥ, abhilāpamātreṇa tathāvidhapratītyabhāvāt62 /
tenaiṣā na svacchākārāvabhāsinī /
nanvetat pratītiparāhatamuditam, gaurayamiti buddhau viśadāvabhāsāt /
ucyate---na viśadāvabhāsitvamavajānīmahe /
tattu samānakālabhāvino nirvikalpapratayayasya svalakṣaṇāvalambinaḥ prasādāt, tadabhāve tathātvānupalambhāt /
na caitadvācyaṃ kathamekameva vastvindriyairviśadāvabhāsaṃ anubhūyate, śabdaiścā63viśadāvabhāsamiti /
bhidyamāne 'pi bodhopāye bodhyābhedebodhavailakṣaṇyānupapatteḥ /
niyatākārañca svalakṣaṇamaniyatākāraścāsyāṃ buddhau cakāsti /
tadevaṃ viśadāviśadatayā niyatāniyatatayā ca svalakṣaṇasya vikalpākārasya ca bhede satyapi vikalpāḥ sākṣātparamparayā vā svalakṣaṇaviṣayadarśanaprabhavatayā svalakṣaṇagrahaṇābhimānino jāyante /
tata eva tatra pravartayantaḥ puruṣaṃ vyavahārāṅgabhāvamanubhavanti /
pāramparyeṇa vastuni pratibandhādavastvapi pratibaddhaṃ bhavati, maṇiprabhāyāṃ maṇibuddhivat /
yathā hi khalu maṇiprabhāyāṃ maṇidīptāyāṃ maṇikiraṇaviṣayiṇī maṇibuddhirayathārthatayā bhedamajuṣamāṇāpi maṇimanu pratibaddheti maṇisamadhigamanimittaṃ bhevata, tatheyamapi vastutaḥ svalakṣaṇamagṛhṇatyapi svalakṣaṇāddarśanaṃ, darśanato vikalpa iti svalakṣaṇapratibaddhā satī tatprāptaye prabhavati /
nirvikalpakapratyayasamadhigatasvalakṣaṇaprāpakatayā ca smṛtiriyamucyate /
tata eva ca gṛhītagrāhitvādapramāṇam, anyathā vastuviṣayatayā vastuprāpakatayā cānumānamiva pramāṇameva syāt /
sa cāyaṃ tasyākāraḥ prathamāno na jñānasyaiva, bahiṣṭvenāvabhāsāt /
na cārthagata eva; uktena nyāyena nirastatvāt /
kintvayamasanneva jñānamanu bhāsate śabdamiva pratiśabdaḥ /
etacca śāstracintakā vivecayanti, pratipattārastu dṛśyavikalpyāvarthāvekīkṛtya bāhyamevānunyamānā vyavahāreṣu pravartante, pravṛttāścārthapratilambhenāvisaṃvādaṃ manyante /
kathaṃ punarekatvādhyavasāyo dṛśyavikalpyayoḥ, atadvyāvṛttatayā tatsadṛśatvāt, yathā dṛśyasyātadvyāvṛttatā, tathā vikalpyasyāpi /
tasmājjātipratyayo vikalpamātram, paramārthatastu na jātirnāma kiñcit /
api ca dravyasamavāyinī jātirabhimatā /
na ca gandhādivyatiriktaṃ dravyamupalabhāmahe, cakṣurādīnāṃ pratyekaṃ rūpādiṣveva vyāpārāditi pūrvapakṣasaṃkṣepaḥ /
siddhāntaḥ--- atrocyate---saṃvideva hi bhagavatī viṣayasattvopagame śaraṇam /
gavādiṣu ca sthūlākārāvalambinī saṃvidudīyata iti nirvivādam /
nayavīthyāñca nirṇītaṃ pramāṇaṃ smṛtiśca naḥ pratyaya iti /
nanu tadevāsaditi manyate, avayavyādīnāmekāntato 'nupapannatvāt /
ucyate /
na dṛṣṭe kācidanupapattiḥ /
nanūktāvayavino 'nupapattiḥ ārambhakābhāvāt /
anupapanneyamanupapattiḥ; kāryaṃ pratītaṃ kāraṇakalpanāyāṃ pramāṇam /
na punaḥ sphuṭāvabhāsikāryaṃ kāraṇānirūpaṇe 'pahnavamarhati, tenāvayavā eva samāsāditasaṃyogalakṣaṇasādhāraṇaguṇā avayavina utpādakā bhaviśyanti /

kādācitkī ca tayorapareyaṃ daśā dṛśyata iti bhavatyeva bhedasiddhiḥ /
sthāpitā ca mīmāṃsājīvarakṣāyāṃ pratyabhijñā /
ataḥ saṃyogalakṣaṇasādhāraṇaguṇāsamavāyikāraṇopagṛhītā avayavā eva samavāyikāraṇamavayavina upapadyante /
65yaścāyamavayavino vṛttivikalpena doṣa uktaḥ, so 'pyavayavinaḥ pratītau sthitāyāmanupapannaḥ /
vyāsakta evāvayaveṣvavayavī, naikatra jātivatparisamāptaḥ /
avayavāntarairapi ca vinā sa tasya ko 'pi mahimā, ya eka evānekāvayavānusyūta iti kiṃ na kalpyate /
yadyapi cāvayavina ekaikatrāvṛttistathāpi nāvṛttidoṣaḥ /
saṃyogasacivā evāvayavā janakā āśrayabhūtā yataḥ janakatayaivāśrayatvāt samavāyikāraṇānām /
ata eva saṃyogaḥ sadvitīyāśraya iti na doṣaḥ /
na ca sakalāvayavopalambhasāpekṣā tadupalabdhiḥ, avayavinastebhyo bhinnatvāt /
na caitāvatā ekāvayavagrahaṇe 'pi grahaṇaparyanuyogo yuktaḥ, kāryānuguṇatvāt kāraṇakalpanāyāḥ /
kāryasiddhyarthaṃ hi kāraṇaṃ parikalpyate na kāryavināśāya /
tena yāvatāmavayavānāṃ grahaṇe tadupalambhastāvatāmevāvagamastadavagamanibandhanamiti darśanabalenābhyupeyate /

upeyabhūto 'vayavī upāyapadavartinaścāvayavāḥ /
pratyekaṃ tu teṣāṃ śakyata evāsahopalambho 'pi vaktum, avayavāntarayogino 'vayavino 'pi parigrahe itarāvayavavyatireko 'pi sudarśa eva /
iyañca bhedasādhane yuktiḥ---anvayavyatirekābhyāṃ hi vastvantaratvamavasīyate, avagamyamāno 'pi cāvayavī vilakṣaṇabuddhigocaratāmāvahatyeva /
avayavī hi sthavīyāneko hṛdayamāgacchati avayavāstu kṣodīyāṃso bhūyāṃsaśca /
sa cāyamavayavī mahattvādrūpavattvācca cākṣuṣaḥ spārśano vā, pārthivo vāmbhaso vā taijaso vā /
vāyavīyastu mahattvāt sparśavattvācca spārśana eva /
dvyaṇukastu cāturbhautiko 'pyamahattvādapratyakṣa eva /
tasya cāmahattvam, 67avayavabahutvamahattvapracayaviśeṣāṇāṃ mahattvaguṇakāraṇānāmabhāvāt /
gaganādīnāṃ tu mahatāmapi rūpasparśavidhuratayā na pratyakṣagocaratetyalamativistareṇa /
nanu sakalāvayavasamāśritatvādavayavinastirohitairavayavaiḥ sahenrdiyāsannikarṣe kathamavayavinā samāgamaḥ? na cāsaṅgatameva bahirindriyamavabodhakamiti pratijñā yujyate, avayavānāmapyasannikṛṣṭendriyabodhyatvāpatteriti /

tadanayā diśā tāvadupapannamāśrayadravyamākṛteḥ pṛthulam /
nanūktaṃ rūpādivyatireki dravyaṃ nopalabhyata iti, kimidaṃ paśyatoharatvam---pratīyate hi mahānavayavī rūpādivyatirekī /
ata eva japākusumasannidhānābhibhūtarūpamapi sphaṭikadravyaṃ pratyabhijñāyate /
kathaṃ nāmāgṛhītaṃ pratyabhijñāyeta /
api ca darśanasparśanābhyāmekārthagrahaṇādrūpasparśavyatireki dravyaṃ sphuṭatarapratītaṃ tat nāpanhotumucitam /
ata eva vanādiṣu bādhakapratyayabalena tatkalpanā na prasaratīti dūratayāntarālāgrahaṇanibandhano 'yamabhedavyavahāraḥ pravartata iti /
avayavini tu bādhakajñānaṃ nāstīti purastādāveditam /
tenāśrayadravyābhāvājjāterapalāpaḥ pralāpamātramiti sthitam /
yaccedamuditaṃ 'nityatayā jāterātmavijñānajanane 'pi na śaktateti' tadapi 68kṣaṇabhaṅganirākaraṇaparvaṇi vistareṇa nityānāmathakriyākāritvasamarthanena pratyuktam /
mā vā svavijñānamapi jātirajījanat /
tathāpi kathaṅkāraṃrasāvapratyakṣā /

athavā na khalviyamājñā rājñaḥ kāraṇabhūtasyaiva pratyakṣeṇa bhavitavyamiti /
yastu yataḥ pratītaye sa tasya viṣaya iti sarvālaukikam /

asaṃvivādaśca tasmādātmalābhāt anyatastu bhavato69'tathābhūtasya vābhāve 'pi bhāvasambhavānniyamena saṃvādāyogāditi bālādabhyupeyaṃ pratyakṣasya kāraṇameva viṣaya iti /
ata eva ca pratyakṣamanumānaṃ ca dve eva pramāṇe; tayorevārthāvisaṃvādakatvāt /
pratyakṣaṃ sākṣādarthena pratibaddham, anumānaṃ tvarthapratibaddhaliṅgajanyatayā pāramparyeṇa pratibaddham /
yasya tu na sākṣāt, nāpi paramparayār'thapratibandhaḥ, na tasya pramāṇyamucitaṃ, tasya tadavisamvādaniyamābhāvāt /
arthāvisamvādi ca pramāṇaṃ vyavajihīrṣamāṇā laukikā ādriyante iti /
siddhyedayaṃ manoratho yadi jñānāntaranibandhano 'visaṃvādaḥ prārthanīyaḥ /
yadviṣayameva ca yajjñānaṃ, tenaiva tasmin viṣaye paryupasthāpite nāsti pratyayāntaranibandhanāvisaṃvādaprārthanā /
arthenāpratibaddhamapi ca jñānaṃ svamahimaparyupasthāpitārthamavisaṃvādakameva saṃpravartate /
tenotpattimātra eva vijñānasya parāpekṣā, na prāmāṇyer'70thāvyabhicāralakṣaṇe /
ataḥ siddhaṃ śāstrādīnāmapi arthapratibandhavirahiṇāṃ prāmāṇyam /
etadarthameva nayavīthyāṃ"sarvaṃ jñānaṃ viṣayāvyabhicāri" iti pratipāditam /
ato nityāyāmapi jātau bhavatyeva pratyakṣasya prāmāṇyam /
yat punaruktam---'ekabhāvena manasā samākalayataḥ kālākṣīṃ svastimatīṃ vā nāsti jātipratītiḥ' iti /
tadasiddham, ākāro hi sā, pratīte cākāre yadi paramarthāntarānusandhānavikalatayā tasyānuvṛttirnāvasīyate /
anuvṛttā ca jātirnānuvṛttiḥ /
agrahaṇe 'pi ca dharmasya dharmiṇo grahaṇaṃ nānupapannam /
ata eva ca piṇḍāntarasamadhigame pūrvākāraparāmarśinī manīṣā pratyabhijñāsamākhyātodīyate /
yaccoktam 'anāśrayatayā tatraiva prāganavasthitā niṣkriyatayā cānyasmādanāgacchantī svarūpahāniprasaṅgena vyaktyā sahānupajāyamānā kathaṃ sambandhamanubhavati jātiḥ' iti /
tadidaṃ māyāmohajananaṃ yathājātajanodvejanamātram /
saṃyogo hyubhayakarmajo bhavati mallayoriva, anyatarakarmajo vāsthāṇuśyenayoriva, saṃyogajo vā yathā tantuturīsaṃyogādutpannasya paṭasya turīsaṃyogaḥ /
sa ca karma, prāksaṃnidhānaṃ vāpekṣate /
samavāyastu saṃyogādvibhinno na karma, prāksattāṃ vāpekṣate /
yata eva tu piṇḍasyodayaḥ samavāyikāraṇāt, tata eva jātisamavāyo 'pi tasya utpadyate /
71samavāyañca na vayaṃ kāśyapīyā iva nityamupemaḥ /

ko hi nāma sacetanaḥ padārthāntarapratyabhijñāmabhedāśrayeṇa sādhayet /
ko vā parasparavirodhinī ekasya dve rūpe pratijānīte /
bhedavādaḥ punarasmākamapi sammata eva /
na ca tatra ihapratyayāpattirdeṣaḥ /
pratītya hyādhāramādheyañca sammbadhaṃ pratīyāt /
sarvañca rūpaṃ rūpigrahaṇamantareṇa na pratīyate /
ataḥ samānendriyagrāhyatayā jātirapi vyaktipratyayānupraveśinīti, na iha pratyayasambhavaḥ /
karmaṇi tvanumeye bhavatyeva ihapratyayaḥ /
vṛttivikalpe tu kṛtsnasamāptirevāṅgīkaraṇīyā /
na cānyatrāvṛttidoṣaḥ, pratyakṣāvagamādvṛtteḥ /
pratyabhijñāyāḥ sthāpitatvāt /
pṛthaggrahaṇaṃ tu jāterasiddhameva /
vyaktyantare hi jātiḥ pratīyamānā prācyapiṇḍaparihāreṇa prakāśate /
udīcyapiṇḍaparihārastu prāktanapiṇḍasamadhigamasamaye siddha eveti parihṛtanikhilānupapatitakamupapāditaṃ gavādiṣu sādhāraṇākārānubhavasiddhaṃ jātitattvam /
upapannañca pratyakṣavedyatvaṃ jāteḥ, indriyavyāpārānuvidhānena pratīteḥ /
saṃyuktasamavāyalakṣaṇaśca sannikarṣo 'pi nānupapannaḥ /
gaurayamiti ca matirviśadatarārthanirbhāsinī prathata iti cet /
tanna, tathābhāve pramāṇābhāvāt /
śabdamātreṇa tu kevalākāraparigṛhītākārapratīteḥ rūpāntarānavabhāsāccāviśadāvabhāsa eva /
aindriyake tu samvedane pracuratarāvayavarūpāvabhāsādviśadāvagama iti nābāhyaviṣayatvāpattiḥ /
nanveṣā jātipratītirbhinnāmeva vyaktimabhedenāvagamayantī jāyata iti bhrāntireṣā na pratyakṣaṃ pramāṇam /
iyantu bhrāntirnirbījā na yujyata iti bījabhāvena jātiranumīyate, tatsamavāyaśca /
dṛṣṭā hi santāpasañcāritadahanaparamāṇusaṃvalitāyogolake dahanākārānukāriṇī pratītiriti /
tadidamuktottaramapi punaḥ paryanuyojyāmahe vismaraṇāparādhāditi manyāmahe /
bhinnā hi jātiravagamyate /
na khalvākāramākāriṇañcaikameva manyāmahe /
kevalaṃ śabdaprayoge eva samādhirvaktavyaḥ /
tatra ca laukikaḥ prayoga eva śaraṇam /
prayogaśca śrutyā lakṣaṇayā gauṇyā vā vṛttyā nānupapannaḥ /
samavāyastu bhavatu vastvantare siddhe 'numeyaḥ, pratyakṣeṇa tadanavagamāt /
ākṛtistu pratyakṣapramāṇasiddhā nānumeyā /
nacānumānamapi śakyaṃ śākyeṣu pratibandhuṣvityalamativistareṇa /
sattājātinirākaraṇam /
atra kecidgavāditulyatayā dravyaguṇakarmasvapi sattājātimaṅgīkurvanti, bhavati hi sarveṣveva satsaditi pratyayānuvṛttiriti saṃvadantaḥ /
tadidamaparāmṛṣṭajātitattvānāmuparyupari jalpitam74 /
pūrvarūpānukāriṇī yadi dhīrudīyate, tato 'bhyupeyetaiva jātiḥ /
na ca nānājātīyeṣu dravyeṣu sarṣapamahīdharādiṣu, guṇeṣu gandharasādiṣu vā samānākārānubhavo bhavati /
kavelaṃ tu tatsaditi śabdamātrameva prayujyate /
bhavati ca vināpi jātyā pācakamīmāṃsakādiśabdapravṛttiḥ /
nanvevaṃ śabdapravṛttirapi naikanibandhanamantareṇopapadyate /
satyaṃ, astyevopādhirekaḥ pramāṇasambandhayogyatā nāma /
75 76tatrānyaḥ paṇḍitammanyo manyate---nanvidamasamañjasamucyate sarvatra hyupādhibhedamavagamyaupādhikaśabdānuviddhaḥ pratyayo bhavati, na punaḥ prāgeva, saha vā /
iha ca pramāṇameva jāyamānamastītyevameva jāyate /
pramāṇodayottarakālaṃ hyanayā bhavitavyam /
kiñca satyapi pramāṇayoge kiñcidastīti gamyate, kiñciccāsīditi, tathānyadbhaviṣyatīti /
tatra pramāṇasambandhasya vartamānatvāt sarvatra vartamānasattāpratayayena bhavitavyam /
tadatirekiṇi tu sattve tasya tredhā vyavasthānādyuktastridhāvabhāsaḥ /
api ca bhūmitalanikhāteṣu ciratarakālavartiṣu pralīnajñātṛpuruṣeṣuliṅgādirahiteṣu sakalapramāṇapratyastamaye 'pi vartamānasattāsandehaḥ /
sa ca pramāṇasambandhātirekiṇīṃ sattāmantareṇānupapanna iti /
tadidamanākalitaparavacanasya kevalaṃ galagarjitam /
uktamasmābhiḥ pramāṇasambandhayogyatopādhiriti /
yadi hi pramāṇasambandha upādhiriti vadema, tata itthamupālamyemahyapi /
yogyatā tu pramāṇasambandhātiriktā pramāṇenāvasīyata iti yukta evāstīti pramāṇodayaḥ /
tasyāśca traikālyāt traikālyāvagamo 'pi samarthita eva /
tasyāśca saṃśāyitatāpi yuktaiva /
kā punariyaṃ pramāṇasambandhayogyatā nāma /
nanu nāmāntareṇa mahāsāmānyamevedamurarīkṛtam /
naitadevam; yo hi mahāsāmānyaṃ sattāṃ saṅgirate, so 'pi svarūpasattāṃ padārthānāṃ manyata eva /
anyathā śaśaśṛṅgādīnāmanutpannātivṛttānāñca kimiti mahāsāmānyena sambandha eva na syāditi paryanuyoge, kaḥ parihāraḥ ? tena svarūpasattaiva pramāṇasambandhayogyatā /
yasya hi svarūpamasti, tat pramāṇena paricchidyate /
traikālyamapi svarūpasyaiva yuktam, na ca mahāsāmānyasya, nityatvāt /
tathā saṃśayitatāpi tasyaiva, na punarasaṃśayite svarūpe 'paraḥ sattāsandeho bhavati /
atha nityāyā api sattāyāḥ kaḥ sambandho yaḥ sa trikālaḥ /
tasyaiva traikālyaṃ kutaḥ ? nānyadatrottaraṃ svarūpatraikālyādityataḥ /
tasmātsvarūpasattopādhika eva sacchabdo na punareka ākāraḥ sattā nāma dravyaguṇakarmaṇām /
77api ca kāśyapīyānāṃ jātisamavāyaviśeṣeṣu svarūpasattopādhika eva sacchabda ityabhyupagamaḥ /
tasya ca dravyaguṇakarmasvapi tathābhāvo 'stviti /
tadevamapākṛte padārthasvarūpātirekiṇi mahāsāmānye sattākhye yat svamanīṣānirmitakutarkabalena sanmātraviṣayaṃ pratyakṣamiti sādhitaṃ, tadatidūrotsāritam /
etenaiva nyāyena śabdatvamapi nirastaṃ veditavyam /
nahi kakāragakārayorekamākāramanugataṃ parāmṛśantī manīṣā samunmiṣati /
yo 'pi cāyaṃ śabdaśabdaḥ, so 'pi śrotragrahaṇopādhilabdhapravṛttiriti na jātu jātikalpanāyai vibhavati /
tadidamapahastitam, yadāhuḥ 78"śabdatvameva tattadasādhāraṇābhivyañjakadhvaninibandhanatayā nānāvarṇapeṇa viṣayībhavat tasya tasyārthasyāvagamāya kalpata" iti /
brāhmaṇatvādijātinirākaraṇam /
anayaiva ca diśā brāhmaṇatvādijātirapi nivāritā /
nahi nānāstrīpuruṣavyaktiṣu puruṣatvādarthāntarabhūtamekamākāramātmasātkurvāntī matirāvirbhavati /
nahi kṣatriyādibhyo vyāvartamānaṃ sakalabrāhmaṇeṣvanuvartamānamekamākāramaticiramanusandadhato 'pi budhyante /
yadapyāhuḥ- 79yadyapyāpātasaṃjātayā dhiyā brāhmaṇyaṃ nāvasīyate, tathāpi brāhmaṇabhūtamātāpitṛsambandhānusandhānaprabhavāyāṃ banddhau taccakāstīti /
tadapi ca svamānasavisaṃvādi /
anusandadhāno 'pi mātāpitṛsambandhaṃ ko jātvekamākāramavaboddhuṃ prabhavati /
yaccopadarśitam---yathā vilīnamājyaṃ tailādavyatiricyamānaṃ gandhagrahaṇasahakāriṇā cakṣuṣaiva bhinnamavagamtaya---iti /
tadapi na sundaram /
nahi tadānīṃ cākṣuṣasya saṃvedanasya viṣayātirekaḥ, kintvanumānameva tatra sarpiṣaḥ /
yastu nipuṇadarśo sūkṣmamapi rūpamīkṣituṃ kṣamaḥ, sa cakṣuṣaivājyajātimapi pratyeti, na gandhagrahaṇamapekṣate /
nanvevaṃ bahvavahīnam, kiṃnibandhano hi tadānīmāhavanīyādisādhyakarmasu keṣāñcidadhikāro nānyeṣām; kiṃnibandhanā ca brāhmaṇaśabdasya pravṛttivyavasthā iti /
80atrocyate /
anādau saṃsāre janyajanakabhāvena vyavasthitāstāvat kāścideva strīpuruṣasantatayaḥ santi, tāsāmanyonyavyatikareṇa jātāḥ strīpuṃsavyaktayo brāhmaṇaśabdavācyāḥ /
anidamprathamatayā ca santateḥ sarveṣāṃ tatsantatipatitatvāt siddhā brāhmaṇaśabdavācyatā /
tena santativiśeṣaprabhavatvameva brāhmaṇaśabdapravṛttāvupādhiḥ /
tatprabhavānāmeva karmasvadhikāra iti na kiñcidavahīnam /
ke punaste santativiśeṣāḥ /
na te parigaṇayya nirdeṣṭuṃ śakyante, kintu lokata eva prasiddhāḥ pratyetavyāḥ /
tathā ca tajjanyatve 'vagate brāhmaṇaśabdaṃ prayuñjate lokāḥ /
kathaṃ punastajjanyatmeva śakyamavagantum, strīṇāmaparādhasambhavāt ? saṃbhavanti hi puṃścalyo striyaḥ pariṇetāraṃ vyabhicarantyaḥ /
ucyate /
uktametat dṛśyādarśanamevābhāva iti /
yatra yāvatyupalabdhisāmagrī, tāvatyāṃ satyāmapi yāsāṃ vyabhicāro na dṛśyate, tāsāṃ nāstyeva vyabhicāra iti lokapramāṇakametat /
api ca apramattaiḥ striyo rakṣaṇīyāstāsu nāstyeva vyabhicārasambhāvanāvakāśaḥ /
yāsu tvasti, mābhūt tadapatyeṣu tatsantatiprabhavatvaniścayaḥ /
na caitāvatā yatrāpi niścayaḥ śakyastatrāpyaniścaya iti vaktuṃ yuktamiti /
yacca bahvīṣu jvālāsvekavartivartinīṣu jvālātvaṃ sāmānyaṃ pratyabhijñāgocaraḥ kaiścidipyate /
tadapi gururasmākaṃ na mṛṣyati /
sa khalvevaṃ nirīkṣañcakre ananyathāsiddhā buddhiḥ sāmānyakalpanābījam /
iyaṃ tu bhedāgrahaṇena śuktikārajatapratyayavadupapadyata iti nālaṃ sāmānyamaupasthāpayitum /
tena bhedagrahaṇapurassaramabhedajñānaṃ bhinneṣu jātyabhyupagame śaraṇamiti niravadyam /
śālikanāthena kṛtaṃ kṛtamatinā jātinirṇayākhyamidam /
bahuvidhavivādaharaṇaṃ prakaraṇamuruṇāvadhānena //
